Beschreibung

Perfect for downhill skiing too !

Best Uses

  • Snow camping

I have an older version of the Alibi (no adjustable waist, lace hook or boot cinch). They were great for ice climbing in the Cascades, only eaccumulated three small crampons holes above the protected area. I no longer ice climb but these pants live on as my prefered pant for both downhill skiing and snow camping in all but the wettest conditions (for which I switch to Goretex). For skiing, the thigh pocket is a perfect size for trail maps and is in a convenient location to access when riding a chair lift. The waterproof seat keeps me dry on chairlifts and the pant cuffs fit snuggly over my boots. These pants are usually warm enough by themselves, but if it is particularly cold I layer with lightweight polypro longjohns. They also breath well enough that I don't overheat during apres ski activities or when driving.

The only downside to my pants is that I have a 35" waist so purchased the Large size, they are loose enough around my waist that I use with suspenders (but as the newer version has an adjustable waist this may no longer be an issue).

Bomber!

this is one tough, warm, pair of pants! i hooked my crampons in them twice and all i got was a very small, easy to repair hole out of the deal. it could have been disastorous with other pants. i wore expedition weight long under wear, and combined with the fleece lining in these pants i was never even close to being cold. we waded through snow, glasaded and climbed ice for 3 days and these pants were ideal. bottom line,, buy them you won't be disapointed.

I liked these so much I bought two

I have been using these daily for a month above 10,000 ft with temperatures ranging for -30 F to +30 F. They are incredibly comfortable and easy to wear in this changing climate. I have been able to skip wearing gators in all but the deepest snows, and have never felt constrained or binded making any move.

        Hi OR team,

I just realize that some of your ski pants have built-in knee pad pocket. And sadly my Alibi pants do not have those pocket slot for some thin knee pad to slide in. I wonder if you guys will consider adding that those the Alibi pants in the future. Even though a knee pad for ice climbing is not necessary in general, I personally think a thin knee pad does help the climber to protect their knees on the climb (especially for people with and knees)

I figure I will just throw my 2 cents out there. Thanks

Hi I wonder if one need to wear a pair of long john underneath the Alibi pants when ice climbing in below freezing.

Would it be warm enough with the pants itself?

        Thanks

That all depends on how warn you run as a person. For most people yes they would need to wear long underwear under the alibi pants.

Hi i'm looking for the right size, your chart show 32' waist for medium, but what exactly mean? This is the average size , min or max? Usually 34 size works for me,

I'm 6' 0" in the morning, and have a 32" waist. I wear a size MD (32" length) in this pant, but depending on your leg length you might want to go with a LG (33" length).

That is the average size. The Alibi Pants have adjustable elastic tabs on the waist that allow the user to make them tighter of looser. I feel that a large would fit you best based on your usual waist size.

I wear a 36 X 36 do you think the XXL will synch down enough for my waist and do you think they will be long enough. And does that go true for all the pants

          A:

The inseam on the XXL Alibi Pants is only 35". The waist on these would most likely loose on you as well. We do not have a pant with a longer inseam.

I am climbing Denali in June-- are these pant appropriate? I will be cliombing for 5 to 10 to 15 hours a day for 3 weeks and can't stand pants sliding down--do these have a suspenders option?

          A:

Yes, the Alibi pants will work well for lower on the mountain and as a layering piece at higher elevations. They do accept accessory suspenders.

Do these fit over loosely buckled AT boots?

        • A:

I just bought these pants online. I tried them over my Garmont Endorphins. They fit with tightly closed buckles (i.e., downhill mode) even with the zipper closed. With the zipper open, I could have the boots semi-open, but the cuff wasn't wide enough for me to expand into super-expanded touring mode.

          A:

The Alibi will most likely not fit over your AT boots. They are designed specifically for mountaineering boots. Check out the Aspect pant it is essentially the Alibi with side vents and a wider bottom for ski touring. The Trailbreaker is another great pant, super breathable upper half, waterproof bottom half.

      • Q:

I am considering this pants for mountaineering/climbing like Mt. Shasta but I'm wary that it doesn't have vents. Between the Alibi and the Aspect pants, which is more appropriate for alpine climbing/mountaineering?

          A:

The Aspect Pants were designed for back country skiing. They will be waterproof with with a combination of high and low loft fleece for warmth. The Alibi Pants were originally designed for ice climbing. They have a mix of waterproof material where it's needed most and high breath-ability where it's needed. The Aspects might be a better option for you since they have thigh vents and internal mesh gaiters.

They have both water resistant softshell and waterproof softshell. The knees and seat are waterproof, everywhere else is water resistant.

Wondering if anyone can help me out. Do these have more of a slim fit than the Cirque or are they roughly the same? Also - I can't seem to find an inseam dimension here on the website. Does anyone know how long a size medium is for the Alibi pant? Thanks!

        • Outdoor Research Employees

          A:

They are very similar fitting, the Cirque is slightly trimmer just because the fabric is thinner. The inseam for a size medium is 32".

You're right, these pants are not 4.5oz. The average weight of our Alibi Pants are actually 21.2oz / 600g. This is based on a size Large.
