Beschreibung

      Comments about Advanced Bivy:

I have owned two of the Advanced Bivy. I don't recall what happened to the first, but this one, which I have cared for like my life depends on it, lost all of the seal coat on the floor at the beginning of an 18 day trip in the Smokies, leaving my down bag at the mercy of the elements. This critical failure could have been disastrous, if the weather hadn't turned mild for the last half of the trip. I will be looking for a new bivy without a more permanent floor material. Heck, this one is [$] more than it was last time I bought it. Yeesh.

        Comments about Advanced Bivy:

I use this product for self support kayaking adventures. It is small enough to fit into tight spaces and quick and easy to assemble at the camp site. In summer I use a light weight sleeping bag inside and during my winter trips (0-30F) I use a 2 layer system down sleeping bag inside. I use 20"-24" wide sleeping matts inside based on wether I am truck camping or on an expedition.

        Comments about Advanced Bivy:

After ~20 years I finally got back on the trail (actually more bushwacking than trails) taking a solo foot excursion deep into the BWCA (northern MN). I'm not a big strong guy so I wanted to go light for a tent. This bivy worked out perfect. I went early before bug season but I could see where the netting would be handy later on using its full ventilation position. I can't opine on the performance in really wet weather but looking at the design and the use of gore tex; I'm sure it would do fine. It did fine with the light snow. I did have trouble keeping the bivy in the full ventilation position (it would close up on me) but that might have been operator error. I like the design where your sleeping pad is held in position by straps. I'm anxious to get out on my next solo trip with this bivy.

          Comments about Advanced Bivy:

This is about the perfect bivy for peak bagging excursions. It's light weight, but has more ventilation options than a simple bivy sack. The poles give adequate space and make things less claustrophobic. You can open it up for a warm night and the bug screen will protect you from mosquitoes. In colder whether there is another pole configuration which will keep it a bit more cozy.
The only downside I can think of is the pole ends can be easy to lose if you don't carefully pack everything away.

I use this bivy wherever I might be. It's waterproof which is perfect for my coastal kayaking. It's lightweight and small pack size is great for bike touring or weekend hikes. Gonna use it for some backcountry boarding soon which I know will be a lot warmer than my buddy who is sleeping under a tarp. This is a product I bring on every excursion I go on and is great for emergencies. The zipper can be better approved and maybe add a elastic to the poles so they aren't so easy to lose. I do wish it cam in a more neutral color for stelth camoing but it is the best bivy I have used thus far.
