excellent climbing glove

By Nate Brown

Pros

  • Dextrous
  • Heavy Duty Golf Glove
  • Soft leather
  • Stretchy
  • Thin
  • Wind-proof

Cons

  • Not waterproof

Best Uses

  • Altitude Winter Golfing
  • Ice
  • Mixed
  • Pure Cold Rock Climbing
  • Skinning
  • Spring skiing

I just used these gloves on a five pitch winter 5.8. The gloves felt like another layer of skin for the climbing moves and climbed flawlessly on the cold granite. Dry-tooling, hand-jams, crimpers etc felt easier with these gloves. I would use this glove in conjunction with warmer mittens/gloves for belaying on very cold alpine outings. Disclaimer: the gloves were a gift through the grassroots program. However, I like them so much I will likely buy another few pair at full retail. A good price to boot. Happy climbing.

Great Fitting Groves

By Shone

from Tokyo, JP

Pros

  • breathable
  • Durable
  • Durable palm
  • Easy to wash
  • Great Fitting Leather Pal
  • Perfect fitting
  • Windproof

Cons

  • White Color Palm

Best Uses

  • Motorcycle
  • Trecking

I use these groves when i ride my motorcycle everyday. They have nice and great fitting leather perm, so i can fell very clearly touching breaks and clutch lever. Also windstopper membrane keeps my hand warm enough and dry. Just a thing i worried about is the color of leather part. I can wash them pretty easy, because this palm is made of sheep leather, but stain doesn't get off. Please make black color palm model. Anyway. these gloves are still great. That is really true.

Great All Around Alpine Glove.

Pros

  • Light

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Belay Glove
    • Short Roping
    • Skinning Glove
    • Spring Ice Climbing
    • Summer Alpine Climbing

I use the Mixalot glove all the time. It is not only good for mixed climbing. It is nice as a ice climbing glove when the weather is warm, but I also use it when I am skinning in the backcountry and on alpine routes in the summer. I take it rock climbing with me and use it as a belay/short roping glove. I love the weight and the dexterity that I have while wearing the Mixalot. I find that in the summer that my hands stay cooler in the Mixalot than gloves designed for belaying and rope work. The leather on the palms are thin, but I have been using them quite a lot with out serious signs of wear and no holes.

    Best Tactical Glove

    By Izzy Bullfrog

    from Afghanistan

    Pros

    • Durable palm
    • Great Fit
    • Warm
    • Windproof

    Cons

      Best Uses

      • Partols
      • Shooting

I used these while patroling in Afghanistan in the winter. They fit great and have a very nice leather palm. They keep the wind off of my hands a have a nice thin liner on the top. I have full function of my hands and can access all my equipment without having to take off my gloves. These are the best tactical gloves I have ever used. If your chain of command won't freak out over the color then get them. I would suggest that Outdoor Research make these in tan and black also. I would be the first to buy them. Great product!!!

      • Q:

Sizing Q: I'm a SM in Alibi II and a MD in Storm Tracker, wondering what size I should get in the Mixalot and the Storm Cell?

Also, demo'd the Alibi II at Ouray last year and felt it was too sticky (but loved the fit) will it break in? Or is there a way to de-stickify it a little? Was hard for me to move/relax my fingers to avoid getting pumped.

        Thx!

          A:

If you enjoy the SM in the Alibi II, then a SM in the Mixalot should work well. Additionally, a MD in the Storm Track would mean a MD in the Storm Cell.

Fit is always subjective based on the style of gloves and what you are using them for. You can follow this link to find a dealer nearby -
