Use this hat for paddling, hiking and trail running. Excellent purchase. Hat is deeper than most which is a huge plus and adds to the overall quality fit of this perfect product. Keeps my head dry in Class IV rapids. I even wear this hat casually as well. I would definately recommend this to all paddlers and trail runners. The wicking capabilities of this hat are phenomenal!

This hat was an excellent purchase. Nice color is something I wear around town. When outside, the brim is wide enough to keep the sun out of my face. The fabric helps keep the water off, even when sprayed by a rogue wave when out on the boat. Used it in a few rain storms, and didn't even think to put my hood up because the hat was doing a good job shedding water. The band fits very well, and can snug down if you are in gusty conditions. It has some nice lightweight fabric that doesn't overheat your head.

The only downside is that the hat is very large. Make sure to try it on when you are at the store before you make your purchase. If possible bring your sunglasses or anything else you may wear around your head to ensure the fit is right. This hat is so large that it usually puts pressure on my sunglasses, so by the end of the day it is starting to cause some pressure/pain where my glasses sit against my ear and nose. There is so much fabric that the band rubs on the tops of my ears, and it ends up puffing up above my head some, which can make it look a little odd. I have to snug the band down a little extra because I'm afraid the wind might pick up the extra fabric and make the hat take flight...

This hat stays in my pack year round, both for school and for the mountains. It's super lightweight, very breathable, and much more durable than you would think. I love this hat and the Pertex it uses to keep you dry. Fits great and has a deeper fit than most hats (much deeper than the Swift Cap), which keeps you covered and dry. Very highly recommended!

What is the spf protection level for this or other baseball hats produced by OR?

        • A:

If UPF isn't listed in the description, then the item does not have it. Several OR hats, however, have UPF 30 sun protection. You'll just need to look at each item separately or do a search.

I'm looking for a hat to wear while boating and jet skiing. Had one I liked that had a clasp in the back like this one that held the hat tight on my head. Lost it going into a wave. Is the clasp band on this hat nylon and sturdy or does it stretch like elastic? Is there another hat you would recommend for this use? Thanks a bunch.

The hat has a quick release buckle on the back. It is not elastic.

I would definitely recommend the Revel Cap if you are looking for a hat for a water based sport. This hat does an excellent job of shedding the water off when sprayed by waves. The brim is nice and long to ensure that the sun stays off your face. The fabric is lightweight to ensure that your head won't overheat when you are sitting directly under the sun. The clasp in the back is plastic, and the band itself is nylon. When you snug the band down, it will stay. I've had it out in some hefty breezes with no problems at all. Be careful about the fit, and try going to a store to try it on. The hat is very large and may be larger than you are accustomed to. Bring your sunglasses so you can try on the hat with your glasses on too.
