Cons

    Best Uses

    • Belay Jacket

I was excited to find this jacket! I wanted a down belay jacket with some water resistance that still packed small. This jacket has been amazing. I wear it regularly and it is proving to be a great jacket! I stay remarkably warm. In fact, I have to take this jacket off at times if it is not cold enough. It's not a jacket that I leave in for long when I enter a building. The blue is a great color. (Be aware that the fabric is slightly sheer. If you don't like seeing feathers, go for the black.) The jacket has plenty of room for layers. I usually get XSs, but wanted this a little roomier for wearing over other jackets. It seems to have paid off. And per usual, my Jacket-thieving Partners have been stuffing their guy-selves into my jacket at belays..."wow, this is a Nice'un." Get your OWN! (:

How durable is the material? My current lightweight jacket hasn't even lasted a year.

        A:

The jacket uses a 10D ripstop nylon that trades durability for weight savings. If you are concerned about the durability, I'd take a look at the W's Virtuoso Jacket. The jacket is about the same warmth and uses a thicker 30D fabric making it significantly more durable than the Incandescent.

The "loft" or "fill power" for this item is 800+ goose down insulation. Thanks for the question!
