I'm a big fan of the "One Short to Rule Them All" philosophy when it comes to picking my summer staples. I like to reach in my drawer and, without aiming, pull out a short able to go alpine climbing, cragging and on random training missions, then jump in a river at the end of the day, dry off and go to the nearest brewery. These shorts do all of that really well. I love how light the fabric is, and cool it feels on a hot day and how quickly they dry. However, my only bone ti pick is in the pockets, or lack there of. The zip pocket is low on the thigh and an uncomfortable place for even a single GU packet, let alone a wallet, phone or keys. And gawd knows I need that if I'm heading for a tall cold glass of hop water at the end of a long day. A built-in, low-profile belt or other securing system would also help save the world from undue exposure to my man ass, as I think these shorts tend to creep - esp. when they get sweaty or wet. They do have a place to thread a belt, but I doubt I could find one thin enough to compliment the shorts without building my own.
If you don't need or want more than one small zip pocket on your thigh, these are easily a 4-star product. Five if you don't need a belt.
Oh - and a HUGE fan of the "protective gusset" on the Velcro fly. That was simply brilliant.

- great board short (Review by skiven)
I have already found that these dry more quickly than my other board shorts, and I am impressed with the drying speed even with salt water. I am stuck between a 30 and 32 which is the only drag I went with the 32 and need a belt out of courtesy to others. Other board shorts that I own in 30 climb up and are uncomfortable I think I may find myself in a 30 for these, but having the belt loops has these a step above the other board shorts I own, the belt area then takes a bit longer to dry
