Great skiing/riding pants

By Skiing Fool

Pros

  • Great Inner Thigh Vents
  • Great Thigh Pockets

Cons

  • The Pants Are A Bit Long

Best Uses

  • Skiing
  • Snowboarding

I ski in the greater Seattle area and these pants are great for the cold, and wet weather we have. The insulation is over my base layer.

Very comfortable with lots of room. Pants do run a bit long as shown in the photo which is very noticeable when walking around before or after skiing without boots. With boots on its OK, other than I have had the pants get caught inside the binding once or twice when clicking in.

Thigh pockets are great for map, snack and are comfortably large enough for a phone or even beacon (although I have not yet put a beacon in there). Inner vents are perfect for those rare moments when the sun comes out.

Great pants overall - very happy!

  • Q:

How's the fit on these? I snowboard, but don't like the super baggy look. Will these pants fit over standard snowboard boots?

I just bought these for that same reason...I board and need something that has more room in the thigh and seat. Because of the relaxed fit they have more room but do not sit baggy for me. I wear XL (40 waist in jeans) but had been buying xxl to get better thigh room. These seem to fix that issue for me. However I have not tried them on with my boots but they seem okay.

I snowboard and I was looking for new pants this season and tried on several different pants. These are a relaxed fit so they have more room in the thigh....the place I need it. Also I need some extra room in the seat. Some of the other pants I tried fit my waist but were too tight in the thigh and seat. I just bought these today because of the relaxed fit. Also i needed to step up the waterproofing...i think the Pretex is suppose to be around 18,000mm. They do not feel overly baggy but I hope they have enough room for me to board and ride hard! I have not tried them yet but hope too as soon as our mountain opens.

  • Q:

How "waterproof" is it really? Will it keep me dry in the pouring rain for an 8 hour day? What's the best way to keep it in the best condition i.e washing etc.
    Thanks

      A:

The Igneo uses the power of 2-layer 70-D Pertex shield for ultimate protection. Test results are comparable to Gore-tex fabric. As with most, use tech-wash.

Thanks for your question and happy adventuring!
