I've had mine just a couple of years and only used them in the winter. I like a high gaiter during cold weather to help keep my lower legs warm. They are light weight, breath pretty well and the top strap keeps them in place. The main flaw I have with them is the velcro on mine does not stay hooked. In fact it barely hooks to itself at all. I have never had this problem with OR gaiters before.

I have taken these gaiters through the wettest and coldest conditions North Idaho has to offer and they always keep my legs dry and add an extra layer for warmth. The snug fit around the foot even kept the sea out when the waves on the Olympic Peninsula took me by surprise. The only drawback is its breathability - not as good as Goretex - but I rarely wear them when the weather heats up.

I have used these in the Rockies in winter and Mt Rainier in the summer. I will keep them until they fall apart (which is probably never). They will absolutley keep snow, ice, and debris out of your boots.

I recently bought these in size large as my shoe size is 11, but the fit around the calf is very loose. Do i need size medium or this normal?

  We make the gaiters to fit the average base of our users, some with find it too tight and others will find it too loose. However, those that find it loose, can use the tightening strap so the gaiters stay in place.

I bought my father Verglas gaitors (size large) for Christmas. Not sure if they fit around calf. Are there measurments for the XL so we can compare? Also, are there other gaitors that would be recommended for someone who has short legs but a large calf?
