- These are very nice mittens (Review by AN)
I have not worn any other mittens since I received these about a month ago.
I received a pair of these mittens for Christmas, and was a little unhappy to discover how thin they were. I didn't think they'd be very warm. I first tested them on a warm day when it was about 40° F out, and my hands stayed warm. I tested them in progressively colder and colder temperatures, getting more and more pleasantly surprised as they continued to perform well into the teens, and my fingers never really got cold until the polar vortex hit. These mittens were not quite up to the task of keeping my fingers warm in 3° F; however, as they are warmer than my other gloves, even when worn in layers, I kept wearing them. They also did not keep my fingers warm while shoveling snow or scraping ice off my car in bitter cold, but again, they did not perform worse than my other gloves. They also are not very wind-resistant. Especially if it's cold, sometimes it does take the gloves a few minutes to warm up. I've noticed that sometimes they're cold for the first ten minutes and then they turn very toasty, to the point where I sometimes have to flip open the tops in sub-freezing weather because my fingers are sweating.
They are extremely convenient. Besides the warmth of the lining, my hands also stay warmer because I never have to pull them off to use my fingers, or even my thumbs. They are not bulky, so less of a burden to manage, and come with a clip to fasten them together and keep one from being lost.
In summary, even though they did not always keep my fingers warm, I give them 5 stars because they performed better than any other gloves I own, even in trying and unusually cold conditions.
