This product is well made, windproof, and light weight. I have used this hat in very cold conditions and it performed very well except for one problem. It does not completely cover the ears. It covers about 1/3 to 1/2 of the ears and when the temperatures drop below freezing and the wind picks up you will wish OR had designed the ear coverage better. I would recommend this to a friend if the friend was not concerned about ear coverage.

What is the pocket for? Love the hat, but my wife and I are feuding over the purpose of the pocket.

  I am afraid Williedyna that your feud might not be over. The pocket is just a pocket, you can put a range of things in there from a house key if you are out jogging to chapstick. Whatever you want, and will fit, you can use the pocket for.
