Comments about M's Furio Pants!":

Pretty good pants overall. I use them for backcountry skiing and occasionally ice climbing. They are nice and light, which is great. Plenty of room underneath for a couple insulating layers too.

However, they only have one pocket, which is a real pain. At least give me two, one for each hand, so I can have the essentials close at hand. Also, the zipper pull on the fly is TINY! It makes undoing the fly a huge pain when wearing gloves. Please use the same zipper pull as the Tremor Pants. That would be awesome.

  • Q:

Regarding the Men's Furio: Best size to purchase for 32X32 or 5'9" @170 lbs (muscular)? For 5'8 @130 lbs?
Asked on 12/13/2012 by SheBeast from North Bend, WA

    1 answer

    • A:

The medium would be a great fit for both your waist size and inseam. For 5'9 170 lbs the medium should work (match your waist/inseam with the sizing chart though). At 5'8 130 lbs, consider buying the small (OR smalls are usually good for 29-31" waists and have a 31" inseam). Either way, use the size guide for the most accurate fit!

  • Q:

Does OR make this pant or any other shell in a short inseam version? I bought the short version of the Ferrosi Pants (34" waist, 30" inseam) which fit me well, but I'm afraid these will be too long. Thanks, Joel.

We do not produce a shell pant in short or extended sizing.

      Small 31"
      Medium 32"
      Large 33"

  • Q:

I am trying to decide between a L and an XL for the Furio Pant. My waist is between 35" and 36" but my inseam is only 30". My fear is the L will be too small in the waist but the XL will be too long. What size would you recommend?
    Thank you.

  • Q:

When will you make some stuff for tall guys? I'm 6'7", 235lbs. 35" W, and 36" inseam? Tall jackets would be nice too.

  • Q:

I'm 6'4" with a 34" waist and 34" inseam. I'm not sure if a 38 is wise to buy for proper inseam while sacrificing waist size. Is anyone out there my size who has the Furio or like pants they could suggest?
Asked on 8/21/2012 by John Sunshine from Little Rock, AR

    • Outdoor Research Employees

      A:

The Furio pant in large has a relaxed waist of 34" and stretch waist of 38" where as the medium has a relaxed waist of 31" and 34" stretched. I would suggest the Large, especially if you are planning on any layering underneath.

      Thanks for your question!

  • Q:

I'm looking for some new alpine shell pants and comparing the furios and paladins. How different are they apart from fabric? Why are the furios "stormproof for demanding alpine adventures" but the paladins are "3 season".

Considerations: I'd mostly be using them for alpine climbing in New Zealand where even in summer the weather is a lot more variable and extreme than in the continental US and there is often either deep snow or torrential rain. I've always worn gaiters, but how good are the internal snow gussets on these? Weight is also an issue as I'm trying to shave grams.
Asked on 4/21/2012 by Mitch from Sydney, Australia

    1 answer

    • Outdoor Research Employees

      A:

The Paladin Pants are made with a waterproof breathable material called Pertex, which will be lighter in weight than the Gore-tex Furio's. The Furio's weight 582g and the Paladin's weigh 446 grams. The internal snow gaiter works well in snow and alpine conditions. They will both work well for your Alpine climbs, but the Furio's will have the internal mesh gaiters while the Paladins will not.

  • Q:

Are the Furio insulated? What would you recommend as base layer and insulating layer?
    Asked on 3/8/2012 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Outdoor Research Employees

      A:

The Furio is not insulated; it is a Gore-tex shell. The layering system will depend on how warm you need your set up to be. It will work great with everything from a thin wool baselayer to a lightweight down jacket.

  • Q:

I am 6-1 and 180 pounds. I normally wear a 33 waist and 33 inseam pant (e.g. jeans, casual pants)

I would be wearing the Furio pant over a light base layer, and maybe a climbing pant.

Would you recommend a Medium or Large size?
    Asked on 2/26/2012 by Anonymous

    • A:

I'm 6'2" and 175lbs and I *just* purchased the large. They seemed to fit well when I quickly tried them on over a layer. I would reco going with the large to allow layering in cold conditions. Note that you may need to get the suspenders as well, since the belt does not tighten that far...try them on first before buying the suspenders though

  • Q:

What diameter is the waist on the latest Pac Lite version??
Asked on 2/15/2012 by Trevor from Olympia

    1 answer

    • Outdoor Research Employees

      A:

Here are the current dimensions of the waist relaxed and stretched.

      Relaxed - S-28in, M-31in, L-34in, XL-37in
      Stretched - S-38in, M-41in, L-44in, XL-47in

If your waist line is somewhere in the middle of the numbers they should fit just fine, we do not recommend fitting to close tot he stretched number, they will be too tight.
