- Best Hat I've Ever Owned (Review by Gerry)
This is probably the best hat of its kind that I've ever owned.
I'm not a mountain man. I was living this winter for a couple of weeks in London (I'm from Southern California) in my friend's old pre-WWII apartment that had no heat.
I slept in this trimline beanie. I also wore it walking out in the rain, wind, and cold of England.
I found it warm, dry, soooooo soft, comfortable and stylish.
I was at first hesitant when I read the fabric content of this hat. I'm not usually a fan of synthetic fabrics as I typically find them to be inferior to good old natural textiles like wool, but upon wearing this hat, I realized that Outdoor Research knows what they're doing. The fabric is the perfect magical blend of a soft inner lining (softest I've ever had in a hat. I literally WANTED to sleep in this thing it was so cozy) and then the precise blend of exterior textiles for the perfect feel, durability, protection, warmth and breathability.
I've bought 3 as spares- it's my favorite winter hat I've ever owned. I'm not a rugged outdoorsman, so I hope my review helps you guys who are climbing mountains or camping and doesn't mislead you. But for the urban climate I was in, this thing was the BOMB.
Happy 2014! Gerry
