I use this for everday wear mostly. Its fit is very conducive to wearing as a midlayer which I do quite frequently while skiing. 650 fill but... I have another company's down sweater that is 800 fill but in this type of garment it's not even noticeable. It's designed to be light so it's not that durable.

Wow the best warmth to weight ration i have ever owned or tried. The armpits are a little snug, but otherwise is great under a shell or over underlayers. The only thing i may want would be a bit more water resistance on the sholders it may compomise weight though and that is waht the shell is for

I used this sweater during my son's scouting weekend and it met all my expectations.

Fit. I am average height and build and the sweater fit very well and not restrictive at all through a range of motions. The elastic cuff was tight enough to keep the sleeve in place but not so restrictive that it became uncomfortable.

Comfort. I was wearing a base layer and lightweight polar fleece pullover and the sweater kept me warm well into the lower 20's. In windy conditions I wore a shell over it and I remained warm in 28 degree weather and 20 MPH winds. The sweater remained comfortable alone in 15 MPH winds with temps in mid 30's.

Got this originally as a hiking sweater that I could squeeze into my backpack but I use it all winter too for snowshoeing and hiking or just heading to the store.
It's lightweight, warm, and great for layering.

Awesome jacket, but the sleeves won't do if you're over six feet. OR needs to look at longer sleeves or making a "long" version for those of us who are in shape (not an XL) but also over six feet.

I was shocked at how lightweight this jacket was. It truly is the lightest down jacket I have ever come across. I wouldn't use it extensively as a stand alone jacket or for hard use, but it is an excellent packable insulation piece and is incredibly warm. This jacket is probably best used riding under a hard shell on bitter cold days, or packed in your bag for when the temperatures take a dive. I would recommend this jacket to everyone I know.

I love this jacket. I wear this jacket all the time. The chest pocket is what eventually sold me on this jacket compared to other puffy jackets. I use the pocket all the time for my phone and it blends in well with the jacket. It keeps my just warm enough but it is truely a layering jacket because it doesnt do well against wind and rain.

I am 5'10" and 130lbs, 29" waist, 35" chest. I'm looking to use this piece as a layer and as a stand alone outer. I find it depends on the brand if I am in a medium or small. Usually the sleeve or overall length is the determining factor between the sizes. Since I cant find this is person close by, what would you recommend?

Based on your measurements, it sounds like a small would fit you best. The sleeve length on a small is 34 3/4" and 35 3/4" for a medium.

I am 5'8" 185 and the L is perfect for over a tee shirt as my intention. That being said, I believe it would be to snug as an outer layer, so I would recommend XL.

Depends on the fit that you like. I'm same weight as you, but only 6'0. I wear a dress shirt with 35 inch sleeves and a suit jacket size 42 Long. I ended up going with a Medium on this jacket although I regularly wear large, but I got this jacket specifically as an insulation layer with the intent of needing to wear only a t-shirt or some other thin baselayer underneath. I'm fairly athletic build. The Medium is a 'fitted' feel and look for me with this jacket, but that's what I wanted. The large was just a little too bulky in the torso and sleeves. The length of this jacket is short, but its obviously designed to stay out of the way of a harness and stay tucked behind a hard shell if used as such. Hope this helps?
