excellent all-around glove

    This glove system is all i need for most of the year. They are so lightweight, I bring them with me on every trip below snowline. The liner itself is warm and cuts the wind, but it's not so thick that it hinders my dexterity. And when the weather gets damp, as it usually does eventually at home in WA, it's nice to be able to bust out the shells and keep the liners, and my hands, dry. The elastic at the liner cuff deals out wind without the need for any cinching system, but it would be nice if there was a way to tighten the cuffs on the shells. And having the zip pocket on the liner that usually holds the shells is handy- you could throw a handwarmer pack in each pocket and easily push these gloves into colder conditions. I don't usually hike with handwarmers though, so I haven't had an opportunity to pull that trick off yet.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

        These would not serve very well as a light skiing glove. They could perform well for cross country or skate skiing but not very well for downhill conditions.
