- Hella Good Hat (Review by GO-Eriq)
As an outdoor guide, I am outdoors year-round, no matter what the weather. Having the right equipment and technical clothing lets me focus on the activity, not my comfort and safety. Outdoor Research never lets me down.
The Spitsbergen hat is a great one for layering under my helmet on a cold day of ice climbing, or as a standalone when teaching winter camping or snowboarding. Warm, form-fitting, and wind-proof, this hat is my go-to when I head out on a 15-40 degree day. The Spitsbergen is also one of the few hats that keeps my ears covered no matter what I am doing, but doesn't slip down too much under my helmet to interfere with my vision or hearing. I liked it so much, I bought 3 different colors!
Thanks OR for making a product that is built to last, and performs better than expected. I'm a fan!

- Soft & Warm (Review by Elias)
I bought this hat as a stay-warm-in-winter replacement for the Svalbard hat I lost last year. I'm not at all disappointed with this items functionality. It keeps my bald head warm in very cold weather. The material is thick, tightly-woven lambs wool and is pretty soft to the touch. I haven't put this through the ringer yet, so I can't speak for any issues with the stitching, time will tell, and if it becomes an issue I'll report back. After reading a review that mentioned a crinkling noise due to the windstopper material, I put the hat on to check it out. Personally I didn't notice anything unusual.
Only complaint! It's just too big for me! I washed it in hot water and then threw it in the dryer...its a bit better now, but I still end up with either a funny tuft of hat above my head, or a blindfold. I know it's impractical to make these hats in multiple sizes... but I sure could use a S/M option.

- Could be better (Review by Kyle)
While this hat is very warm, I have found that it has two defects. The first is that the fabric used in the windproof liner around the ears is very noisy. Every time I turn my head, my ears fill with a crinkling noise. I don't like wearing this hat in the woods because it makes it hard to hear anything happening around you. I was also disappointment with stitching that holds in the windproof liner. It has deteriorated in several spots and occasionally when putting the hat on I hear the top of another stitch bursting.

I wear this hat when I'm working or playing outside. It's very comfortable and looks really cool.
