Week in the Grand Canyon

Bought the L/S Zip Echo for my first Grand Canyon hike - 87 Miles on Tonto platform in April - 7 Days. Being very white from winter and not experienced in the desert, I took a chance on this for sun protection. It's only rated at 15 UPF but I didn't get the slightest hint of sunburn through it, hiking all day in unobstructed sunlight. Your results may vary, but I was extremely happy this worked out. I never wear long sleeves or collars hiking, but this was entirely comfortable and very breathable even zipped all the way up which I did most of the time. Wasn't the hottest part of the summer or highest arc in the sky for the sun, but it sure felt like it to this Northeasterner. The extra length in the shirt works great too, rides nicely below the pack belt. Not sure what I'll use it for now that I'm back home, but it was well worth the price even if just for this single venture.
