I have had this jacket for almost two years now and have not torn it yet. That has surprised me due to the light material in the shell. I normally wear a Medium but got a Large so i could use it over my softshell jacket (a medium) at belays. It is very warm in this config. and slides on easily.
It is not warm enough to keep you toasty on a windy 30 degree day when sitting on your rear for awhile, but if you are active it does a good job.
I bring this jacket everyhwere because it is so versatile.

    Pros
The features of this jacket will surprise you for the price. I lke it better than the Patagonia Nano.
Micro fleece used in the collar and in the hand warmer pockets is durable. I have a short beard and the collar has not pilled.
It folds into it's hand warmer pocket, and the pocket has a clip to attach to your harness. (You can also clip your keys to it so you don't lose them on the hike in)
Drawcords at the bottom help to seal out the wind. You can adjust each one using one hand.
It slides on over your fleece easily because the sleeves are lined with nylon! This is a joy because sliding a fleece jacket over a fleece baselayer sucks.

    Cons
It could definitely be warmer. It only has 60grams of Primaloft eco. If it had more Primaloft i would give it 5 out of five stars. (I would love 80g of Primaloft One!)
You must reapply the DWR to the shell every now and then or it will easily wet-out.
It is not totally windproof (but it does a good job.)

    Awesome Jacket

I fly paragliders. Launch is a 2 mile hike with 1500' of gain. I needed a jacket that I could wear hiking on cold days that would not get too hot carrying a 35lb pack. I also need the same jacket to be windproof and warm when flying, because when you're flying the temperature can change rapidly when climbing through different layers of atmostsphere and there is a steady 20mph wind in your face created by flying through the air. Being protected from the wind is a must.
My jacket also needs to be lightweight and pack small because on warm days when I don't need it for the hike, I still need it for the flight. This jacket is great. It is comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. It is also a great windbarrier. Finally, it is low-bulk and very lightwieght whichs makes it a convenient and versatile jacket to keep in your pack for changing weather conditions, etc. I appreciate the outer chest pocket and especially the extra inner chest pocket. The velcro's on the wrist are great as well so I can adjust how snug of fit I want around my wrists. Other brands usually just give a narrow elastic which makes you feel like you are wearing rubber bands on your wrists all day.
      Great jacket.

This is one of my favorite pieces of gear. It's quite light weight and packable. Great for stuffing in your pack, then pulling out when you stop for breaks or to set camp. Because of the casual fit it is also one of my favorites to wear around town.

The jacket has very easily and quickly become the first jacket I grab most winter days in the South. Extremely light weight, but very warm. Light rain or wind is no issue at all repels water pretty good (don't recommend getting caught in a down poor), sheds wind very well also. Throw a soft shell over this thing and you will be toasty all day.

          Comments about M's Neoplume Jacket!":

This jacket, my favorite piece of outerwear, is a great alternative to the high volume, high loft jackets. For as thin and light as this jacket is, it is amazingly warm. I've used it in all types of terrain as an approach jacket to climbs, as a belay jacket, and as an under-layer insulator to a shell jacket. Though not touted as wind-proof, it demonstrates high wind resistance and even sheds water nicely. The jacket can be wet and still warm. Also, when hiking in milder conditions or temperatures that fluctuate, I've found that the material breathes well and doesn't get clammy. Overall, I've been very pleased with the Neoplume. It feels, like other OR gear, that it will take years of abuse.

One note that I would make: this jacket does seem to run a bit large - it may be designed that way on purpose. And though I could easily wear a Medium in mine, I've found that the extra room allows for greater warmth and additional layers if need be.

This jacket is awesome; slim enough to comfortable fit under my softshell for snowboarding, but thick enough to provide decent warmth on its own. I have used it as my fall and spring jacket for walking around town because it looks nice and I've also used it for some pretty cold winter expeditions. It's awesome under a hard or soft shell for warmth and weather protection. It also sheds water and snow pretty well on its own.

On bitter cold days this is an amazing layer that keeps me warm even if it's a little damp. I use it around town under my rain shell, but I also add it to my layering system for paddling in the winter. It's a light compact layer to add warmth to any situation.

This is like that old fleece you used to wear, except (at just under 1 pound) it's lighter, warmer, more wind-resistant, and sheds water better. A great option in cold and wet conditions.

Warmth is a very subjective topic. Synthetic insulation does a great job of regulating body temperature especially in wet environments. That being said, the Neoplume does not have the same thickness of insulation that the Transcendent does.

The Neoplume Jacket uses our standard fit, so it should fit according to our sizing chart. Keep in mind that the sizing chart is based on the body dimensions of the wearer, so you can always measure yourself and then size up if you need to.

I'd say in general, our fit tends to be a little longer and leaner, so if you have a heavier upper body build from all your paddling, you might need to size up. I have an average build and I wear my regular size in this jacket.

That depends on what you are going to do. Both the Medium and the Large sizes fit me fine, I'm 5'7" 175lbs. The medium would have been great if I planned on using it as a mid-layer, but was not large enough to wear anything much bulkier that a t-shirt under. The large is a little too big to use as a mid-layer for me, but works great as an outer layer that I can wear whatever beneath. I bought the large. It works great as a warm and windproof outerlayer that I can wear a heavy sweater under if I need extra warmth. Hope that helps.
