Great Lightweight Jacket (Review by Anna)

I have had this jacket a couple of months now. Overall, it has been great. Super light and waterproof for the occasional pop up rain storm-it's intended purpose. I had it out last weekend in a huge rain event (by central Alaska's standards mind you) and I actually stayed pretty dry for the 3 hours we were out in it. As is usual with most jackets, the water started to kind of seep up the sleeves a little. My biggest complaint is the hood. The way it cinches pulls it off from over my head. In heavy winds, not cinching at all will cause it to blow off. An update to the hood system would be nice on future renditions of this jacket. Overall though, great jacket!

Women's Helium II Jacket (Review by Kels)

This jacket is what dreams are made of. I myself am a pretty small gal (5 ft & 118 lbs.), and the small size fits wonderfully, even with my thick Patagonia fleece underneath. Also, I really enjoy the construction and the placing of the two pockets. Not to mention how nice it is to be able to pack up your rain jacket to the size of a cliff bar. In summary, I have adorned this jacket through many-a-storm and it has yet to disappoint me.

Life Saver (Review by Mary)

The trail disappeared a handful of times on a recent backpacking trip in Montana, putting us behind schedule and right on top of Big Horn Peak as the clouds rolled in. I threw my Helium II on, but my friend didn't have enough time to pull out her bulky rain jacket before the storm started. We pitched the tent as fast as we could, but still spent about five minutes in the freezing rain, pea-sized hail, and 60 mph winds. This little jacket kept me dry, while my (utterly soaked) friend quickly became hypothermic. The story ends well though, and now I will be buying her a Helium as well!

Needs pockets (Review by City Mouse)

I love this jacket - it's the exact thing I've been looking for in a light weight rain jacket that doesn't make me sweat profusely when it's hot outside. The only change I would make (that I would beg for being made) is to add pockets on the front for hands and things to rest in. This would make the jacket even more versatile!

Women's Helium II Jacket (Review by Kels)

I just received my Helium II in "apple" and I am absolutely thrilled. It suites my needs on day hikes and bouldering excursions, and it is the lightest, most convenient shell I have encountered.

Be Prepared (Review by Mariam H)

Easily the most versatile jacket ever, from cutting the wind on the ridges and unexpected rainfall on horseback, to sudden downpours while tramping, to a breathable shield on a mountain bike ride gone long. Just stuff it or tie it on and you are good to go, anywhere without the weight.

Light, waterproof, small (Review by Alison)

Love this jacket. Cut wide enough for layers and long enough to fit tucked under waist belts. Very light, very small, and very waterproof. Of all my rain jackets, this is my favorite for day and overnight trips.

Perfect in case of a storm (Review by SL)

High quality jacket in a very small lightweight package. It is barely noticeable in my hydration pack when out for longer mtn bike rides. Great for both breaking the wind and water protection. Definitely recommend this jacket to others!

Best Lightweight Rain Jacket on the Market (Review by alpinerodeo)

This is the perfect lightweight rain jacket to stash in your climbing, backpacking, or skiing pack, or just clip onto your harness. It’s so lightweight, you don’t even notice you’re carrying it! I love OR’s stuffing system on most jackets, including this one, where you can stuff the jacket into the pocket and use the loop and clip (or your own biner) to clip it to your harness or on the outside of a pack.

I’m 5’3” and about 135lbs and normally wear my OR jackets in a S, but go this one in a M to fit over my down jackets in case I need it for cold-weather protection. This setup works great and avoids me having to carry an extra jacket in the alpine.
