This jacket made its way to my closet last year. Since then I have had it winter hiking, a snowshoeing, skiing, as well as bitter cold walks on the beach and around town. I have found the two large pockets inside the jacket ideal for water and the inner zipping pocket for keys, cellphone, iPod or GPS pretty handy. I have also had many compliments on this jacket. I think the only improvement I would make is to add another inner pocket for things you dont need all of the time, but that is a minor thing for the best jacket my closet has seen.

This is a great fitting and great looking jacket, but it's been incredibly annoying that it constantly looses feathers. My jacket has thinned out and always leaves whatever I'm wearing underneath it covered in feathers. If the quality of the material was a little better and this coat didn't "leak," I'd probably give it 5 stars.

My wife uses this coat more than any other, and she owns alot of coats. Her only gripe is that the zippers don't come with big enough pull tabs. For a coat designed to be used in cold weather, it should be more glove compatible. The OR lotus flower has rubbed off, but that is of no real consequence. This would get a 5 star rating if the zippers were upgraded. In true OR Fashion, an otherwise great buy.

One of my top choices in the Outdoor Research women's line. It is the most versatile insulation layer that I own. It is small and light enough to stuff and clip onto my harness when ice climbing, warm enough to belay in when I can't afford to bring any more bulk, and light enough to wear over or under my climbing shell on really cold days. The fit is athletically superb: wide in the shoulders and upper back area, tapering perfectly at the waist.

Living in Canmore, I see just about every woman walking around with one of these jackets on. They are a versatile and good looking lightweight hoody that is perfect for getting around town. With a ton of pockets, great variety of colors, and a comfy fit, I find myself wearing mine daily. I have also used it a ton as an emergency layer in the summer on rock multipitches and in the alpine because it is so lightweight. Despite all my packing, shoving and squishing, the jacket is really holding up. I think due to the copius stitching however, occasional feathers flee the jacket:)

I bought this jacket for my ever-hip, ever-picky wife, and she loves it. The jacket is always in our pack and car on almost every outing. It is lightweight and packs down and the best thing she was stoked on is that the jacket does not have that overly-puffy look.

                A:

There are many OR shells that would help keep your Aria Hoody bone dry on those rainy days. If you're intending to spend more of your time in the city I would check out the Envy Jacket (http://www.outdoorresearch.com/en/or-gear/womens-envy-jacket.html). The Envy's extended length will make sure the Aria stays completely dry and has been a huge hit up here in rainy Seattle. If you plan to head into the mountains than the Aspire jacket is a personal favorite (http://www.outdoorresearch.com/en/or-gear/womens-aspire-jacket.html). Gore-Tex Paclite is a great material and makes for a waterproof, breathable, packable, do everything jacket! Thanks!
