versatile, functional, finely detailed jacket. (Review by swissiphic)

The detail that sold me on the jacket was the crossflow venting system and real world use has not dissappointed. Previous comments have mentioned that pack straps overlap the vent but i've found the opposite. Simply pulling up on the fabric of the jacket to align the pack shoulder strap under the vent allows the fabric overtop to bulge out and effectively dump heat while providing protection from vertically falling precipitation. The relaxed fit really provides a good amount of room to pump and dump the heat. I also found that for unusual modes of use such as wearing the jacket OVER TOP of body and backpack while wearing the hood in classic coastal wet snow/rain days, the jacket has enough room to allow creative poncho style draping. My only gripe is the hood. The rear adjustment pull grommet is impossibly finicky to adjust with bare fingers, and impossible with gloves on. For skinnier necked folks, it would also be nice to include a secondary, lower adjustment pull around the back of the collar for more versatile adjustment customization.

Great Jacket (Review by Jim)

This is a great jacket! I wore it in a blinding snow storm with 55mph winds and I was completely dry and warm. Actually, I got a little hot! I am 6'3 and weigh about 240 lbs and I bought a XXL. It is a little large with just a shirt underneath however, it fits perfectly worn over a softshell jacket. If I could make one recommendation it would be to add a draw cord to the chest area. Overall it's a great jacket that will provide outstanding protection in the worst of weather.

Great coat! (Review by Doug)

Awesome jacket. I have Gortex Pro pants from another brand and thought I'd get their jacket because it has connectors to the pants. But after trying them both on, I liked the Inertia better, got it and am glad I did. Compared to the other high-end brand, the Inertia has less bulk, is lighter, costs somewhat less, and has a better variety of pockets and holder places (inside stuff sacks for climbing skins or a hat, for example). In addition, this jacket has snap connectors that fit into the belt loops of my pants perfectly, solving that issue. I also like the angled pit zips. I worried about them being inaccessible due to pack straps, but it's not a problem when wearing a pack, and it's easier to find the zippers with this design than it is feeling around for them on my jackets with traditional under-arm pit zips. Very rugged, light, well thought out coat. Great job, OR!

Best overall jacket (Review by Johndy)

This is my first OR jacket and I must say I'm quite impressed. The build quality and construction is superb and never had I got so many stares and complement from a jacket alone and to have it work as advertise (warm, dry, breathable) is truly awesome! I'm from Seattle and I never use umbrellas except when it's pouring down but why would I when I can just throw this jacket on. Did I say it's dry?

This previous weekend (12.7.2013 - I'm a snowboard instructor and we were doing clinics) was a test on how it holds up in the cold. It was 3°, the coldest I've ridden in, and I had a couple of dry fit base layer, OR Acetylene, and this shell - let's just say that the only thing that was cold was my extremities.

I've made it a mission for this season to be extremely light, comfortable and stylish with my gear and I've got to say, mission accomplish! It looks like i'll be an OR lifetime customer :-)

Awesome backcountry shell (Review by Just Reid)

After a full year using this jacket as my main day to day shell I've concluded its the best shell I've used yet.
Great venting while hiking and regulating well charging laps.
The internal pockets will fit wide skins, gloves and goggles.
The removable hood is nice for the resort when I'm wearing a helmet. I love the drop hood style!
I have used the shell for alpine climbing after removing the pow skirt and hood.
I'm 6'2" 180lbs, Long arms. The Large fits perfect, over puffy and softshells. The collar can get tight if your base layers have hoods, which is my only gripe about the jacket.
