This fits in your pocket folded and then unfolds into a warm hat with or without earmuffs. I fold the earmuffs under instead of to the outside when I don't need them, that way it looks like a regular hat.

I wear the Highpoint cap daily in Yellowknife, NT walking in temperatures above -25. In addition, I was impressed how well this hat kept my head warm in extreme temperatures (-35). It's fine for short trips to warm up(scape ice, etc)a vehicle in -35 and below, however I would not recommend it for extended durations at that temperature with a high windchill. At -25 and above I've been outside for two hours and had no problem (those ear flaps are nice). It's stylish which is a bonus, however the practicality really won me over. One complaint, the OR reflective logo on the front is already starting to peel. Designers may want to consider an embroidered OR logo in future. Overall, though, I'm very happy with it and many people have asked me where to purchase one.[...] Thanks for the great product!

would these flaps work if folded in?

          A:

The flaps are designed to fold up on the outside. The flaps are held in place there by internal magnets.

          A:

While we do not have a specific temperature range for this hat, with it's fleece interior and pertex endurance exterior protecting you against the elements, this hat should keep you warm in the range you're looking for.

I wore mine out in 20 degree weather this week and it was just fine but if you want to be sure your ears stay toasty lower than that you might want to add an earband.
