Fantastic (Review by Ian)

I love this jacket. It fits, performs well in just about every situation, and lasts. I got it in black, sz L (Dude, 6'0", 145) and wear it just about everyday. In the winter, a slim hooded fleece or micropuff fits well underneath, and on a chilly summer night riding my bike it finds its place well, too. At first I kept it nice, using it just for cycling, hiking, and some nice rock climbing. But then I used it for some real climbing and found that I couldn't destroy it in the least. Then I started bringing it to work (arborist, climbing trees, picking up logs, sap, bar oil, yuck) after a year with the idea of thrashing it. You see, I'm used to getting new jackets every few years and giving the old ones to live out their last days in the trees. But it continues. The only real stress it's seen in when after washing it, it accidentally found its way into the dryer on high heat. The pocket zipper seams melted open. But some super glue fixed that (even if I did leak some onto the zipper 3/4 up. Whoops, who needs the right pocket. It still vents).

Only gripe is that OR usually has some pretty eye popping colors. I would get it in another color than black if they made some more toned down arrangements. However, black works just as well.

After 6 rugged years of abuse and a fresh DWR wash, I got stuck in a rowdy downpour with just my Ferrosi and stayed dry for hours.

5 stars in a big way.

Great for warm-weather hiking (Review by Sam)

I use this primarily on warm days that could get windy/chilly as we increase altitude. It's super light and packable, but affords some full-sleeve coverage should you need it. I broke this in while hiking the High Atlas in Morocco and it was perfect for that environment -- warm at camp (70*) but much cooler in the passes and on the upper donkey trails (50*).

I love the two-tone construction. For what it's worth, I'm 6"3" with a slim build and the medium is a great, trim fit with plenty of sleeve length and mobility from the armpits. I wouldn't change a thing on this jacket -- just know that it won't protect you from anything more than a cool breeze and slight drizzle.
