RATING AND REVIEWS

So cozy

5

Bought these for trail running in the Canadian Rockies. They are my first pair of tights and are a nice comfy way to ease into tights. They still have some room in them and look great as well. The pockets are a bit odd on the sides but I have made them work. The back pocket with zipper is I fortunately too small for my I phone 7. This is my only gripe as I usually use this pocket for my phone in other shorts I own.

Great cool weather running tights

5

These tights are great for cool to cold weather running. The only gripe I have with them (along with most other OR pants that only run in s/m/l sizes) is that they are very long, especially for people like me who have a 28" inseam. Fortunately, due to their fitted nature, the extra material just bunches up a little near the bottom.

Great except for the drawstring

I bought these for my husband as a gift. He wore them road-running, about 3 times/week for 5 weeks. He loves the fit and features, but one day he tightened the drawstring on the waistband and one side came out. I have tried to re-string it through, but there are lots of little loops it feeds through, so I haven't been able to get very far with it. I will need to return them for a new pair unless there is a trick to re-threading the drawstring. And it only is on one side, the drawstring must be sewn so as to make two separate pieces??

Great hut-lounging pants!

4

I bought these for cold weather biking, but decided to take them along on a backcountry hut trip, to have something for casual wear around the hut that was more comfortable than ski pants and more presentable than a base layer. These were perfect! Very warm and comfortable, and not too bulky to pack.

Great mid-weight running tight

Great pair of running tights that works well for weather in the 20s but breathe well enough to not overheat in the 50s

Good for everything

5

I've never had a tight that wasn't firm fitting, so I was skeptical but I reach for these every outing now. Great for trail running and easy to put a cycling liner short underneath for commuting

Comfortable and functional

So far, so good. I have worn these around the house and on a few runs (30-40F) and they have worked great. Breathes very well, comfortable against the skin. Obviously they are an "athletic" cut, but aren't so tight that you feel like your nether regions are on display for the world to see (aka, tighter around the lower leg and a bit looser fitting higher up). Back zippered pocket is a must for a running pant. Hip pockets are...interesting...they are really deep (but narrow). I threw a pack of GU gummies in there and they sunk way down to the bottom. it made it a bit weird to dig them out. Too narrow for a phone (unless you have an old flip phone still). 5'11" 170 pounds and a medium fits perfectly.

Best all-around cold weather training gear

5

I use the pentane tights as my go to cold weather training tights. Whether it is freezing and snowy or breezy and 50 these are a great layer for running or biking. They also work really well as commuter gear though not on the rainy fall or slushy winter days.

Discussions

Can you rank the Pentane tights for warmth relative to other models-- like the Radiant tight for example?

Skippy

Hi Skippy, I would rank the tights in terms of warmth: Pentane>Shiftup>>Radiant Hybrid. I haven't personally used the Pentane tights yet, but due to it's polyester/spadex blend I would imagine they would keep you the coolest out of the three. The Sequence Tights were not included as they are more of a base layer. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Drawstring on the waist ?

Dave

Hi Dave, there is a drawcord in (the interior of) the waistband. Thanks for contacting OR!
