Sam Lightner managed to convince his college professors he was an English/History major, but he secretly majored in climbing at Vedauwoo outside of Laramie.
He was so dedicated to this course of study, he mailed in all his coursework from post offices in or near Yosemite, Smith Rocks, Joshua Tree, and Canyonlands. Since then, Sam’s lived in the Tetons, in El Paso, Lander, southern Thailand, Banff and Moab, all in the name of improving his general climbing skills.
Along the way he has written dozens of magazine articles and seven books. He is currently working on his eighth and in the process of moving back to Lander from Moab with his wife Liz and dogs Moki and Zoe.
