Elation and exhaustion.. Ellen takes a much needed break on the way down from the summit of Shasta, after an alpine start and off-route scrambling session.

Here's a haiku I wrote to commemorate the last 18 hours: Talus. Forever; Accidental snot rockets; No more false summits. #type2fun #sufferselfie #sheadventures #peakbagging

Just before the 50 mile ride to the finish on the 4th day of the Cowboy Tough Expedition Race in Wyoming! Covered over 300 miles and crossed the finish line with only a couple hours of sleep in 4 days! Scorched lips, horrible hallucinations, blisters from saddle sores, and a teammate with a broken elbow were all part of the adventure! #outdoorresearch #sheadventures #sufferselfies

I often think back on this trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and laugh a bit. The climbing was incredible! What happened 3 hours into a 15 hour car to car day was not so much... We hiked in with skis on our back, hoping to hit snow early and be able to skin in and get a nice ski descent on the way out. 2 miles in, patches of snow appeared on the trail. We continued hiking into the trees and reached more snow but not enough to put skis on. Chad crossed a snowbridge over a river and I followed closely behind. I took 3 steps out, into the middle when the snow collapsed underneath me. I fell chest deep into the cold Colorado river, tried to catch my balance so I wouldn't slip under the water and took a couple steps towards the edge and pulled myself up onto the snow. All my clothing was wet and we had many more hours and miles to go. As well as many more early morning hours before the sun started to hit us. I kept hiking until I could no longer feel my toes. I took off my wet shoes and socks and after 15 minutes of struggling, was finally able to shove my wet, sock less feet into my ski boots. After a couple more miles of hiking and skinning we finally hit the wall. The sun started to warm me up and the smiles came out. My gear stayed wet for the entirety of the trip but the climbing was amazing and the views from the summit, GORGEOUS! I dream of going back and climbing this route again, this time without the river adventures!

This photo captures the most difficult day of summer adventuring, just coming down from Panhandle Gap on day 2 of 3 during the Wonderland run. With every climb I wasn't certain I could keep on going, but those 93 miles in 3 days taught me that I'm capable of more than I ever thought. #sheadventures @outdoorresearch

Today's post is a flashback! This trip with three of my favorite ladies was one #ambitiousadventure ! This climb was difficult, although it wasn't physically challenging for me, it was a new kind of mental and emotional challenge... Taking friends into the mountains, beyond anything they have ever imagined was inspiring, terrifying and unforgettable! -we may not have submitted (our goal) we had an amazing trip, pushed our bodies and spirits farther then ever thought possible and bonded as a group! Thanks for an incredible adventure ladies!!! #sheadventures #outdoorresearch #mountains #mountaineering #mtrainier #climbhigher #outdoorwomen #mylifeoutdoors #womenpower #ladiestrip
