We love our national parks—because they're where we can get away from it all. The pristine nature, the quiet ... but none of that is guaranteed to stay protected, and this year our parks are under dire threat.

Legislation was introduced this week that would take power away from national parks to control drilling rights. Instead of giving the parks more power to protect their land, H.J.Res.46 would take the legislation back to 40-year-old standards—which conservation groups say are not sufficient. Here is a Washington Post article sharing more details about the legislation.

H.J. Res. 46 is one of many recent moves by federal lawmakers looking to loosen environmental protections in our national parks. If these protections are removed, drilling could put the parks' air, water and wildlife at risk. And we won't stand for it.

Do you love your national parks? Please join with us in calling your representatives and letting them know you support strict environmental protection in these special places. If we don't act now, our favorite parks may never be the same.

Here's how to find your representative, to tell them you support protecting our beloved national parks. Calling is the single most effective means of reaching your representatives and you don't need to be an expert on the subject. Simply be prepared with your name, location and basic stance on the issue at hand. To make it even easier, we've included some talking points below, directly from the National Parks Conservation Assocaition.

Here is more information on the legislation, from the National Parks Conservation Association. To stay informed on the issue, follow the NPCA on Facebook.

Thank you for joining with us and helping to make a difference.
