Almost the Best

Very good light and multi-functional day pay. It could be the best day pack with a back frame or padded back panel. However since it doesn't a back panel, I can put it inside my big back pack. It doesn't take much room.

Rugged yet light!

This is a great pack for wet conditions. I've used it for everything from multi pitch ice climbing to an extended sea kayaking trip and it's great to know that the contents will stay dry. There's also plenty of attachment points on the outside to attach things that don't matter if they get wet. Perfect size for an airline overhead bin, fits easily. Perfect for kayak camping and short hikes

I used this to load clothes and food on a kayak camping trip. Also used for a short day hike so far. It has no frame but still comfortable when you pack it well.

Love it

This bag is always with me !! On duty or off

Surprised how much I love this pack

Bought this as a backup pack for daytrips on a roadtrip. I am military and usually prefer packs with external frames. However this pack really surprised me. I intended to use this as a secondary pack for buddies to carry water and some extra jackets on hikes and ended up using it myself for every hike. When properly packed this pack rides very well. Was hesitant how obnoxious the waterproof roll closure would be but it's very simple and is comfortable. Fits more than I expected. Looks great

Dry summit pack he

Bought this bag and have not been disappointed at all with it. At 28L it can fit a lot and it quite comfortable to put on. You can roll it up and have it fit in another bag for a day hike or use it for travel. The taped seams have been done well and the sewing on it is also well done. The only thing I could say that would improve this product is using a heavier fabric to make it. That may interfere with its ability to roll up smaller but I think that if they made it out of a 420D nylon it would be perfect. Also just my opinion is if they made it all black. Other than that it's a solid bag that can haul gear and keep it dry. Here is a list of things I was able to fit into the bag and it weighted around 18lbs 3 socks 3 underwear 3 shirts 2 shorts 1 hygiene kit Sleeping bag 1 aero press Pack of baby wipes Solar panel Snow peak titanium cup Butane camping fuel Coffee and sugar Four bungee cords Laundry bag Sleeping mat Travel blow up pillow Laundry pods 550 Ford Beanie cap

Awesome !!

I use this as my personal bag when I'm out taking Veterans on guided fishing trips. If this bag is chosen by people who depended on their gear in the harshest of conditions, then you know it's a good piece of gear. As a Veteran myself, we have different standards to our equipment and Outdoor Research meets or exceeds those expectations.

Nice versatile bag

Have used this on multiple day hikes and bike commuting. It is light but can pack a lot. It being waterproof has come in handy and works well. I can throw some layers, food, and extra gear in there while putting my phone, wallet and light snacks in the outside pocket. The side pockets hold my 1L nalgenes well without fear of them falling out. It is a great little pack.

This pack is the best.

First, let me shout from the mountaintops that OR is my go-to brand. They stand behind their gear. I received this beauty as the result of a warranty claim and am DIGGIN' it! I can get 4 nights (maybe more?) out of this backpack, which makes it suitable for a PCT sack (minus the Sierra.) It has now been copied by UL companies, so they have obviously taken notice of its handiness. Due to its simplicity and design, there is very little opportunity for this bag to fail on an outing. I can use this pack for an array of activities. Doesn't it make sense that a bag be waterproof? Isn't it convenient to be able to access your H2O with ease? If your gear, and your outdoor travel game are in order...go for it. At the very least, it would suit anybody as a daypack.

Fantastic pack!

It keeps my gear warm, which is a must as a student in the pacific northwest. Its comfortable, stylish, and succeeds in every capacity!

Welded seams this pack does not have. Ship to shore on a zodiac. Would it be recommended to get a hiking pack with the welded seams? Kayaking in Alaska and the hiking in the rain I am wondering about this feature? 14 day adventure and the cruise line recommends one pack that folks side the out side pocket leaked ( made by OR )

Hi SMLR27, The front zippered compartment is water-resistant on both packs due to the zipper. The main roll top compartment is water-proof on both packs. The Dry Summit Pack HD would work as long as the pack was not submersed in water or if the pack was not exposed to water for extended periods of time (e.g. in a puddle of water). Think of it as a dry bag. The Dry Payload Pack has welded seams, it's also not submersible, however, it's more waterproof due to the materials and seams. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

can it use in watersports, like kayaking

Hi Danny, The bag is not submersible so it might not be ideal for kayaking. Thanks for contacting OR! Paul

Is this pack really waterproof? If I flip over in canoe will the contents still be dry? Also how does it fit taller guys?

Hi Nathan, the pack is indeed waterproof and full seam-taped. The rolltop closure will help keep water from entering from the top (roll at least 3 times before locking the buckle). The pack is adjustable and should accommodate to fit taller people. Thanks for contacting OR!

Hi, I'd like to know if the Dry Summit Pack HD is fully waterproof, even to immersion. Thanx for your answer. Regards.

As long as your roll the top flap at least three times before you secure it, the Dry Summit Pack HD is submersible for brief periods of time.
