RATING AND REVIEWS

Bring back the original design!

This is a real head scratcher. The original Men's Echo Hoody design was flawless. Why the move to the fold-over mitt cuffs? It feels bulky around the wrist and it looks terrible. Furthermore, I have no need for the added sun protection of the fold-over cuffs. I have OR sun gloves that work great with my two other Echo hoodies. I'll be sending this updated version back to OR, and my fingers are crossed this iteration of the Echo will be short-lived. Please go back to the simple thumb-hole design ASAP!

They tried to fix what wasn't broke

2

So disappointing. The new design has "Fold over mitt cuffs" which look, feel and perform worse than the original version. I'll be sending my back. Please go back to the original design with the simple thumb hole!

Nice and comfortable..

Great product. Material is breathable and wicks well. The material is lightweight and caution is needed as it will catch on brush during trail runs or hikes.

Bad Update

2

I love my 2018 Echo Hoody--its one of the best pieces of gear I own. I wear it all the time climbing and ski touring. I loved it so much I ordered a second one. Unfortunately the 2019 update that i got is a big step back in my opinion. They tapered the sleeves so much to a point that I can't pull them up more than a few inches. They also replaced the very useful thumb catches with seemingly much less useful built-in mittens. Lastly, they changed the hood from a more relaxed fit hoody with draw strings to a scuba-style, closely fitted hood. Not the biggest drawback, but it changes this hoody from a more relaxed look that you could wear to the bar into a very technical looking piece.

Lightweight and breathable sun protection.

Great feeling shirt for sun protection, especially with the hoody.

Extra protection from the sun on warm days

5

I have this and the 1/4 zip. Both are really nice to get a little extra protection from the sun on warm days. I like the fit, plenty of room to be active but doesn't look sloppy. However, I have a pretty small build.

Great fabric, very poor design

2

The fabric is great, I can tell with the proper fitting cut I would love this to death. Following are my issues with it. 1. It is a little snug. Usually large fits me 6ft 180 well but this one feels a little tight. 2. This is clearly a sun shirt but they included these weird mitten things that just don't work and I don't see anyone ever using. I'm sorry OR but read other reviews, most people mention the world mittens. Why out a feature like that on this hoodie? I just don't get it. 3. The hood is tight if I wear a helmet or cap over it. Overall so much potential ruined by poor design. Sorry I love OR but this one was disappointing.

Great, Breathable Technical Shirt

5

I bought this shirt to avoid putting on sunscreen whenever possible. I hate greasy hands. This shirt does everything as advertised. I've worn it on short and long hikes and all day tours in the Idaho backcountry and never felt an excess of moisture on my body. The shirt is sized for a smaller build whereas I'm a well fortified beer drinker and I find myself wishing the shirt was a touch larger, but this does not impact the use of the shirt. The hood accommodates a ball cap just fine. The cuff mitts for your hands are an odd addition. I've tried them several times and each time found the mitts impractical and removed them after several minutes. The idea is sound, but the implementation limits the usefulness. However, I do like the snug cuffs that stay out of the way when I'm climbing or scrambling.

Please bring back the previous version!

Glad the little zip pocket in the back is removed, but I liked the simple cuff and adjustable hood, so that I could daily back how snug it fits in the head. Like others have said, I hope they change for next year!

Liked the previous version better

4

This is still a great hoody. I just liked the previous version better. The current version has a weird wrap over cuff mitt that seems unnecessary for the weight of the hoody. If I need light mitts, I probably won't be wearing this hoody. It also no long has draw strings for the hood. The fit is great, its very comfortable, and looks awesome. Just wish it had regular sleeves and a drawstring still.
