RATING AND REVIEWS

Does this make me look fat?

3

I first got this jacket in 2012 and it was awesome! Great color, stylish, bomb proof. But the zippers failed and after 5 years the DWR started failing. Logically I got another but it does not have the same gusseted armpits and slim torso to waist. I feel like a fat man in this jacket. Same everything but the cut changed and looks terrible. Hey OR save cost and cut out some material!

Better than I hoped (and I was very hopeful)!!

I love this jacket so much, after hearing me rave about it my dad ordered one too (he also loves this jacket).. Have skied front side only in it so far. A couple cold and windy days ( mid 20s) and one bluebird warm day (mid 40s). Very comfortable in both situations. Layers nicely and the jacket moved free and clear against under layers. Only complaint is that when I was warm and opened the equivalent of pit zips, I felt like they puckered a little like baby birds waiting to be fed. Good news is, they dump heat effectively. I suspect over time it won't gape so much as the zipper softens. Tried for lemongrass, but OR and everywhere else sold out by end of season in my size. Red was second choice, but am very happy. My son can spot me fairly easily in lift line amongst all the black and navy jackets. Very happy and would buy again!

Best ever.

This jacket is outstanding. Built like the proverbial brick ****house. Although it is a tad heavy for spring/ summer skiing &mountaineering I will use it for everything else. Had it out recently on a yurt trip where it was snowing heavily most of the time and really windy and it was bombproof. Everything else I have would have wetted out and gotten me cold but this one was "put it on and forget about it". Really the best jacket I have ever had and by the looks of it should be around for quite awhile.

Solid shell

Solid, waterproof, powder skirt very effective. My one wish is for a taller pocket that could easily hold a small water bottle.

Great jacket for backcountry skiing. Material is strong and can withstand abuse from skiing through trees.

Incredibly durable jacket

5

Great jacket for skiing. Big vents ensure your body stays cool on those uphill treks or when working hard. Super durable. Despite catching branches while skiing through glades, no rips or scratches on the material.

Great Jacket for Northeast Ski conditions. When the weather goes from good to bad, this jacket has been wonderful. Great fit and durability, makes this the perfect ski jacket. Highly Recommend!

I replaced my Stormbound with this jacket and am pleased...

I purchased this jacket to replace my Stormbound that was a size too big (gave it to a friend) and was very impressed with all aspects of the jacket. Yes, the Stormbound is down-filled but was the White Room is as warm as I need and fits much better.

Great hardshell for skiing

5

The White Room Jacket has everything I was looking for a hardshell jacket. Just got it recently and it's great on the slopes. I am 6'1" and 210lbs, so I got the X-Large. It fits perfect by providing room for my insulating layer and allowing for unrestricted movement. All of the features are so well designed. It provides function, features and fashion all in one.

I live in Texas. My warmest piece of clothing is a Patagonia fleece. I'm going skiing for a week in Colorado in February. I need ski clothes but don't know what to get. It looks like layering is the way to go. I would prefer to find something(s) that could be worn alone as well as together. I'm overwhelmed looking at options knowing this is something that will rarely get used. Can you recommend a simple layering concept that has versatility?

Joel

Hi Joel, The easiest thing to do would be to purchase the top and bottoms of either the White Room, Igneo, or Offchute (depending on your budget). If you don't have a pair of long johns, maybe add the Sequence Tights as a base layer. If you wanted something with more flexibility/versatility, I would recommend the Maximus or Skyward Jacket, and either the White Room, Igneo, or Offchute Pants as the outer layer (the Skyward Pants may not have enough insulation, however, if you run hot I would recommend them as they breathe well). A insulation piece as a mid layer, either Ascendant Jacket (synthetic) or Transcendent Down Sweater (down). A thicker compression L/S shirt or L/S shirt and the Sequence Tights as a base layer. And wear your Patagonia fleece if you need more warmth. I would probably recommend renting the clothing at a ski shop or possibly at the resort if the clothing will get rarely used after this trip.
