My new favorite piece of gear. Seriously.

I love this jacket. I recently went on a climbing trip to the Red River Gorge in KY, where conditions varied from the high 60s to low 30s. This was the perfect companion and has stolen the spot as my favorite piece of gear. It's lightweight, super breathable, and incredibly comfortable (soft, and the inside is fuzzy). It has incredible warmth for its weight. I love the versatility this offers. I found it to be the perfect layering piece for changing conditions: I can take it off while I'm hiking or climbing, then put it back on for warmth. If it's cold, I can supplement with my puffy. If it's wet or rainy, I can put my hardshell over it. It also has a great fit, nice zippered pockets, and can be worn casually. I'm going to get a LOT of use out of this piece. I'm in love with this hoody.

Great jacket that's light but not light-weight

This jacket is great. It's light without being lightweight, meaning it can be substantially chilly outside (15 degrees) and it does the job! It is also quite form fitting which is flattering.

Great Jacket!

I haven't done anything super hardcore in this jacket yet but so far I love it. It's lightweight, warm, and the slimmer fit in the waist area is nice. I love the multi-colored zipper detail too. So far, it's kept me comfortable on a very windy mountain top, on fall hikes and walks, and on the way to and from work. I would say the description is pretty accurate - it's a great mid-layer!

Amazing jacket, my new hiking favorite!

I really love this jacket. It is my new favorite for hiking in the Pacific northwest. Extremely comfortable, lightweight, breathable and just warm enough.

Only jacket you will ever need

So impressed with how warm this little, lightweight jacket is. My new every day, every thing, jacket.

So Comfortable and Warm!!

I use this product every time I go into the woods. It is so comfy. The material seems like it won't be soft to the touch of your hands but somehow is incredibly soft and comfy to the touch of my arms. It is very lightweight. I can fit a couple of layers under it without the jacket being too snug so it makes for a great layering piece.

Great jacket for active wear

I bought this jacket mainly for cross-country skiing, but even though that's a month or two away I've been wearing it every day at work for the last few weeks. It layers really well for fieldwork, and keeps me warm as long as I'm moving. I usually pair it with a waterproof shell so I can't speak to the water resistance yet.

I would buy this again

First appearance looks great

Haven't gotten to test it yet, but love the fit feels great.

Perfect Layer For Alpine Endeavors

Whether I'm cragging, backcountry skiing, or alpine climbing, I've been reaching for this jacket as my trust partner to bring along. It's lightweight, warm below freezing temps (as long as you're moving!), and resists light snow/rain. Outside, the fabric is wind resistant which make it great for alpine pursuits where the wind can be brutal. The inside is lined with fuzzy fleece which is soft and cozy against my skin. I haven't found another jacket that is as cozy, comfortable, functional, and well fitted as this jacket. On a few trips, I've put on the hoody and bivied in this jacket along with an added puffy. Highly recommended if you're looking for a light/mid weight jacket that can do it all.

How do the Ascendant Hoody and the Uberlayer Hoody compare in terms of warmth, breathability, water resistance, fit?

Hi Stillgoing, The Ascendant Hoody has a little less warmth, much more breathable, and a little more water resistance. The Uberlayer is about an 1" smaller in the chest, otherwise they fit the same. Thanks for contacting OR,
