Picked up the Cira cowboy hat for a Tanzania safari and 880+ mile trek across southern Utah and northern Arizona. The hat was comfortable to wear and offered great sun protection (esp. appreciated while on anti-malarial meds that increase sun sensitivity). I was impressed at how durable this hat is! When it was cold, raining, super brushy, or traveling - I'd stuff it into my luggage or while hiking jam into my pack. Come time to put the hat back on, I'd dig it out, uncrumple it, and it was ready to go. When the safari rig was going 40+ mph or the wind was strong and gusting in the desert this hat stayed on my head; never blew off even as I watched my travel partner chase his hat across the slickrock. Plenty of life left in this Cira, so it's going back to the Grand Canyon next year to float the Colorado River. Bonuses: it's good for protecting small cactus next to one's cowboy camp! And I think it helped us get some fast hitches to/from our route.
