Nice down layereing piece

Very good fit, just the right length for both outdoor and casual use. I would prefer it to be warmer, but I am usually on the cold side; this jacket would work well for low-moderate output activities for most people. Very light, packs small.

The Transcendent Sweater is a great puffy, I use it for a variety of activities and have zero complaints. I find I can wear it on its own and be warm but when winds pick up I tend to turn it into insulation layer under my OR Foray Jacket. I really love the fact that it rolls up into its own pocket which makes it convenient when traveling. Of note it also makes a great little pillow when traveling by bus, train, or airplane.

Fantastic product

Great all around jacket! I bought this jacket expecting a good layering product, but really it's so much more. It has become my main jacket. Yes, it's not ideal for moist weather, but perfect for a daytime hike or getting out of your tent at night and just need one jacket. Very impressed. Fit is great as well. I am 6'3 and 210 and a Large fits a little snug but perfect. Tight enough to be a layer, but loose enough to be a good outer layer. Must buy for the price. Also great for a pillow when it stuffs down.

I love this jacket! Its so light weight and packable, but keeps you toasty warm whether you're shredding it up on the mountain or heading out for a cool night on the town.

great jacket

Pros: Lightweight, not bulky, and warm. 5'11, 190 and a Large fits me perfectly. You can wear this over a T-shirt or a long sleeve light layer and be fine.

Cons: the upper chest pocket zipper is small. And the duck/night color seems like it could be a little darker blue-maybe the color of the zippers instead.

Over all a great jacket.

I'm glad that they call this a sweater and not a jacket.

It seems like a lot of OR's competitors call their version of a lightweight down sweater a 'jacket', and then seem to charge $50 to $100 more for their version. It really is a sweater and should be part of your layering system. on cool spring and fall nights it works well on its own, but it won't stand up to winter cold unless it is under a shell.

This down sweater is well built, uses quality materials and is well worth the price. I've had it for a year now and put this through its paces in all kinds of weather. I've paired it with a shell in really cold weather (a Foray jacket bought at the same time). It provides just enough warmth without adding bulk down to about 20ᄚ F. Over the last few weeks in Chicago I had to leave the Transcendent in the closet and use my heavier down jacket as the temperature hovered around 0ᄚF, but for 20ᄚ to 45ᄚ, it is just right.

The quality is good. Just the right mix of light weight and durability. The seams, the stitching, the fabric and the hardware have all handled regular use without fail or wear and tear. On the trail, it took the edge off of cold June nights in the Boundary Waters. As a layer under a shell, it provides plenty of warmth for XC skiing in western Wisconsin or just shoveling snow in Chicago. It packs down small and serves as a nice pillow when on the trail.

Over the first few weeks I lost a few feathers, but none in the last 10 to 11 months. There are a few rivals that you might want to look at if you think this is too pricey. The REI coop down sweater or the LL Bean down sweater are similar, but cheaper. If you try them out at a local store, you will also see that they are not as well made.

After the first winter I washed the transcendent with Nikwax down wash, and then used the Nikwax down proof. This gives the sweater the benefits of water resistant down.

This sweater is highly recommended. You will be happy that you chose it as part of your gear!

This jacket is awesome. Its got a solid build and packing it into its own pocket really helps a lot. I'm 6'1", 200lbs and the large fits perfectly. It also keeps you very warm. Definitely recommend!

Another Great One

I'm 6'2", 200lbs and I always have to order tall sizes for sleeve length. This is a great jacket. I'd say you're good in this up to about 40 degrees if you aren't active, you can definitely endure colder temperatures if you are moving and working up a sweat.

This thing doesn't really block the wind, so for cold/windy days, you are better off with a good soft shell, but I've worn this baby across Watertown, NY, Canada, Northern Germany, and all of Eastern Europe in the fall and spring and haven't been disappointed.

The transcendent is a great addition to my layering system. This jacket does great regulating body temp. I have been wearing it as an insulation layer under my rain shell out hiking and just by itself heading to the office. Nice work OR!
