Outstanding Quality (Review by Nuffespresso)
Quality

Love this jacket. I am 5'11 175# and very glad I went with the Medium. The jacket is comfortable with a T-Shirt only but I feel there is plenty of room for a wet ski day or my next trip to Mount Rainier. It packs down great and has every feature I can think of needing. I especially like the depth and fit of the hood. One challenge that I have noticed when wearing the jacket it that it doesn't lie well around the neck when sipped all the way. This is not a big deal and I anticipate it will either go away with use or I will get used to it. Overall best shell I have ever used.

This thing is bombproof (Review by Cody)
Quality

I wear this jacket as my outer most layer in the woods in Wisconsin winters. I have never owned a jacket this amazing. This jacket with the OR trascendent underneath keeps my perfectly toasty standing around camp in single digits. The zipper can be a pain when the temps drop below zero, but that is a very small thing considering how well this jacket performs.

Burly jacket! (Review by Joshua)
Quality

This is a very burly jacket! So burly at times its almost over kill! I wore this jacket for the summer guiding in the PNW and I was never wet once! The venting works great and the fit is very good (I'm 5'9 160 lbs). It layered great with my transcendent hoodie. The only gripe I have with it is the wire brimmed hood has broken in multiple places (pretty common in OR jackets). This jacket is a little heavy to be used with an ultralight setup. Overall this is a great jacket with loads of features! Now only if OR could figure out an unbreakable wire brimmed hood.

Amazingly durable (Review by Dougie)
Quality

After skiing in all types of weather and bushwalking through not so desirable thicket this jacket still functions as it did when brand new. Light weight so it's great for touring but very very functional for keeping dry and warm. I'm 5'8, 150 and a small fits well. Thanks for making top quality OR!

Not for the short of stature (Review by Puff Daddy)
Quality

I'm 5'5" with a muscular build. I loved the jacket, and OR products in general. This was the first jacket I had purchased, which I did because I loved the features, and I know the quality. Unfortunately, the sleeves were too long, and it was tight through the chest, armpits, and back. I tried to make it work, but when I started not wearing it because it wasn't comfortable, I knew it was time to send it back. The good news is that OR has an awesome return policy. Bottom line is that if you don't have a slender build, this may not be the jacket for you. The jacket was awesome, it just didn't fit. I had to go with a competitor to get the right fit and features I wanted.

Great shell overall (Review by ksal)
Quality

Im 5'9 , 140. I have a medium with a few small complaints with this jacket and OR overall. First, I love this jacket. It has all the features you would want on a hardshell. My two complaints, length of jacket and wrist velcro cinch. The length of these jackets continue to disappoint me. I know every person is different so there is no perfect fit, but, a hardshell IMO should error on being longer rather than shorter. When you're out in the elements, you have this hardshell on because you bought it to be your best chance to get through driving rain or howling freezing wind. At that point in time, you want the most coverage on your body to protect you. I found the length of the medium to be too short. It comes down to about the middle of my bum crack. When you go to sit down, it lovingly goes up and you get to sit down without your jacket covering you. That sucks. Ski lifts are cold as it will only cover a small amount of your bum. I have small wrists. I would get a size large, to compensate for the short length, but the arms would be really too long. I could work with that by cinching the velcro wrist straps right? No, the velcro on the wrist straps are only about 3 inches long, vs a good 6-7 on arcteryx jackets, so I cant cinch the wrist all the way down. So im stuck with a medium thats too short. I will settle for this because otherwise the jacket is great. Excellent halo hood, the Cnit gortex slides easily off other layers. Even with a medium sadly my wrists dont fit with the cinch all the way. This jacket is the same as the Maximus , except for the shell type and some other very minor features like wrist zippers - which are not needed imo. Otherwise its a great goretex pro / hybrid shell that will meet and exceed whatever you can put it through.

Another bomb-proof OR product (Review by Catmn5)
Quality

I use this for winter hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The weather here is unpredictable, at best, so you need gear that can help you adapt to changing conditions quickly. I tend to run hot, so the outstanding venting options are very important, especially on long ascents. Once you're at the top, however, and as another reviewer has mentioned, you can zip everything up into a very bullet proof shell that will withstand the fiercest conditions and keep you warm.

I also own the Furio pants, and the Foray jacket and pants for warmer weather. Same attention to detail and quality construction

I don't leave for the mountains without OR in my pack!

Crush anything in your path (Review by Plezgnarles )
Quality

Absolute Beast! I use this jacket for all and any of my wet weather adventuring here in Alaska. Originally I bought this as my hard shell for backcountry and resort skiing but its now my all around hard shell. I run hot so this with a fleece underneath is perfect for the resort. The full zippers under the arms are legit and provide excellent ventilation. An absolute necessity for me in any jacket. When backcountry skiing I wear this and Sequence Zip Up top and it works perfectly. The Jacket is also used anytime I am standing in the rain fly fishing. With an isolation layer underneath I stay dry and toasty all day. It even accompanies me on any charter fishing trips or standing in the ocean dip netting. Bottom line if you want to stay dry and stay alive this bombproof jacket is for you. Thanks OR for delivering.
6 ft, 200lbs and the large fits perfect with enough room for a warming layer or medium fill down jacket underneath.

Great Shell (Review by Packham)
Quality

This jacket has been very durable and wind and waterproof. Seems like it will last for a long time. Great features, well designed pockets, strong zippers, everything I want in a shell. Jacket seems to fit a little on the small side, so if unsure size up. Jacket also softened up a bit in the armpit areas and became more comfortable. Overall another OR product I have been very happy with!

What a great shell! (Review by PFV)
Quality

I am so surprised by the quality of this shell. I was a little worried about the 2L Paclite not being burly enough, but it is just perfect. The C-Knit feels great and breathes well on the shoulders. I use this for resort and backcountry skiing. It's light, breathes well, and has plenty of ventilation for the skin track while also being bombproof after zipping everything up. My only complaint (which is partially my fault) is that I would have sized up a little since I use it for skiing. I would not call this a "standard fit", but more like a "trim fit". However, if you're only using this as a rain coat you should be fine. Again, OR killed it with this jacket. I'm happy to be a lifelong OR customer!

sizing issue, narrow cut (Review by Glenn)
Quality

I have not had a chance to get the jacket out into conditions yet, so just a comment on sizing. I had ordered a medium, which is my normal size (5' 8'', 165 lbs). I ended up having to send it back for a large. I found the medium too tight across the chest, especially when all layered up. Without layers, the M probably would be fine, but as a winter shell, I want a bit of room to layer. In the large, I have the layer room across the chest, much like a Medium in many other brands, but I do find the rest of the body and the arms to be a bit bigger than I need. In the weeks since getting this jacket, I have been out trying on a variety of other high end brands, and the medium's all seem fine. Strange to have this type of sizing with the OR jacket here, especially with their Standard Fit jacket. I'll keep the large, as I like the features of the jacket, but the sizing issue seems a bit strange. Wish they had just a plain dark red in colour too...

Bomb Proof Hardshell (Review by SLV )
Quality

Nailed this one! Was slightly skeptical about the changes in material from the previous model (2L Paclite replaced previous 3L & C-Knit replaced Pro) but I am very happy with the durability and abrasion resistance. Secondly this shell is loaded with thoughtful features which make a very versatile 3 season shell. The hem to bicep pit zips, which are a staple of OR shells, are great for venting. The four pockets on the front are also a great way to get additional ventilation, but when the weather gets nasty everything zips up tight and creates what truly feels like armor. The dynamic stretch feature in the underarms allows for a full range of motion and I've never felt constricted at all, even with a puffy on underneath. This shell fits PERFECTLY with my OR Floodlight jacket on underneath. So in summary : 1) Bombproof. 2) Very Well Designed. 3) Versatile. Yet another awesome piece of OR gear that I'll be wearing for years to come. Thanks!
