These wear well, fit well and hold up to a lot of belaying. They feel much better on the rope and have more control than the basic garden glove, Yes, they cost more, but I like the grip and feel of these far better.
I don't know if I have used the pads on the knuckles yet but maybe I haven't noticed them working to pad my hands when yanked towards the rock protecting a fall. My knuckles are fine so they must be working?
Like any glove they are a little hard to remove after a long belay setting, it's hot and my hand are very sweaty. Having the tabs on the fingers helps.
I would give 5 stars if they had some Kevlar between the thumb and pointer finger. I pull the rope thru the device by gripping it there and that is the first place to wear for me. YMMV
