Our core purpose at Outdoor Research has always been to inspire people to get outdoors. Our corporate partners share this philosophy, and by providing access, education and opportunity they help others dive into adventure.
Thank you for supporting Outdoor Research so that we can in turn support the following organizations.
Our love of the mountains doesn't stop at the border. One glimpse of the mountains of Canada, be it the Coast Range, St. Elias Range, or Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, will make you a lover of the northern ranges. The keeper of this reverence is the Alpine Club of Canada and OR is a proud supporter of their efforts.
Striking a balance that includes climbing access, education, and stewardship is a challenge that is near and dear to OR. Near because our home is Seattle, Washington where we are surrounded by two mountain ranges with seemingly endless adventures to the horizon. Dear because our own president, Dan Nordstrom, is the current president of the board of the Access Fund.
Education and mountain safety have always been important to OR, and the guides of the ACMG provide both to the outdoor community. Mountain guiding is as old as the sport of mountaineering itself and it is a tradition we are proud to support. The sparks for many of OR's gear innovations have come from these hardworking professionals.
Based in and around the northeast climbing mecca of "The 'Gunks", the employees of Alpine Endeavors provide guiding services and instruction to the outdoor community. The staff is comprised of experienced, passionate climbers and mountaineers who are professionally trained guides and instructors.

Although our headquarters are in the Pacific Northwest, Outdoor Research loves the mountains and natural places everywhere, including those "back east", where many of our employees cut their mountaineering teeth. We're proud to partner with the AMC - the nation's oldest outdoor recreation and conservation organization.
Winter backcountry enthusiasts of the northwest, OR employees included, use the information provided by NWAC to be safer in avalanche country. The importance of this became painfully apparent to the OR family in 2003 when the founder of OR, Ron Gregg, was killed in an avalanche. OR is proud to sponsor many local events with net proceeds going to Friends of the NWAC.
One of the most respected and active guiding companies in the world, International Mountain Guides have been in operation since 1986. Their guides' combined resume includes many the world's classic climbs, and OR is proud to support their education and guiding services in locations from our own backyard in Washington State to the Himalaya.
We live by the adventures for which we make gear. Learning how to walk softly and be a good steward of the environment in which we play is critical. The ethics taught by LNT can equip us all with the ability to diminish our footprint, enhancing our experiences and preserving wild places for future generations to enjoy.
Through the OIA and its non-profit, the Outdoor Industry Foundation, Outdoor Research joins other companies in our industry to maintain a healthy business environment while increasing participation in human powered adventure activities.
The outdoor industry is a great place to build a career. We enthusiastically support the work of the OIWC to balance the playing field and provide opportunities for women to grow their professional success.
The company of one of our favorite local - to us - guides, Martin Volken, and based just down Route 90 in picturesque North Bend, WA, OR’s support of Pro Guiding Service is a natural fit. Along with aiding product development at Outdoor Research, Martin and his colleagues guide clients on ski, rock and alpine trips in the North Cascades, Canada, Alaska, Europe, and beyond.
Outdoor Research is, at its heart, a mountain company. We are lovers of many natural playgrounds, but the mountains have been an undeniable inspiration to the OR team for over 30 years. With this in mind, our involvement in the good work of the AAC is a natural fit for us.
Our friendly neighborhood outdoor recreation and conservation nonprofit, the mission of The Mountaineers is to enrich the community by helping people explore, conserve, learn about and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest. Outdoor Research is proud to be an ally of The Mountaineers as they work to encourage human-powered outdoor recreation and environmental protection.
Our backyard ski mountain, The Summit at Snoqualmie including Alpental is where snow-hungry OR employees head for nearby skiing and snowboarding on the weekends, and for the occasional after-work turns, too. We’re proud to provide the staff of the mountain with our gear and apparel.
The importance of avalanche safety and education became painfully apparent to the OR family in 2003 when the founder of OR, Ron Gregg, was killed in an avalanche. Winter backcountry enthusiasts, OR employees included, use the information provided by organizations like the Utah Avalanche Center to be safer in avalanche country.
Washington Trails Association (WTA) is the voice for hikers in Washington State. WTA protects hiking trails and wild lands, takes thousands of volunteers out to maintain trails, and promotes hiking as a healthy, fun way to explore Washington.
Finding solitude and adventure in the snow covered winter environment is a true passion for Team OR. WWA's commitment to preserving “a quality human-powered snowsports experience on public lands” is very much in line with OR's brand direction.
