Awesome Jacket

Awesome jacket, and very comfortable. With a nice hood sleeves that are plenty long and nice fitting overall. My only request would be to add pit zips to give you a little more versatility. But, it's a great jacket

Best jacket ever

This jacket is awesome; I wear it almost daily in the wet Bay Area weather. It's even replaced my Mountain Hardwear puffy on dry days, because it's warmer and it fits better. I've worn this thing in some pretty serious downpours lately and it hasn't wet out yet. I think it'd be great for snow, too. If I wear a sweater under this thing I'm set down to the 20s easy.

Love this jacket!

I've owned a lot of OR jackets and coats and this one is the best yet. Very comfortable and warm. Pockets are deep and lined to keep your hands warm. I'm 5-9 and bought a large as almost everything OR makes feels a bit snug on me in the Medium.

Almost a keeper

Warmer than other similar jackets. Trimmer fitting than many, which is very much appreciated. I'm 5'8 thin athletic build and while it could have been a bit slimmer for me it was good enough. Also a little long but I could live with that. Didn't care for the shiny look but also not a deal breaker. The hood was great but also the reason I returned it. The hood fits perfectly, is really warm, not overly bulky, gives great visibility as it moves with your head, and the collar is nice and high for warmth and still comfortable. The problem with the hood is the adjustment cord leaves a big red mark on my forehead after I've worn it for over a minute or two. This won't be a problem if you always wear a hat with it, but needing a hat defeated, for me, my purpose for this coat which was to have an everything coat where I don't need a shell, or a hat, a scarf, or even gloves if I'm just walking around town.

Simply one of the best weight to warmth ratio jackets ever!!

The warmth of 800 fill waterproof treated down in a Pertex shield shell, you really cannot ask for a better piece of gear! This is my second Floodlight jacket, my first one had the wire brim snap and start to poke me in the back of the neck. The goof folks at OR were quick to warranty/replace the jacket and I wear it almost every day in the cold North East Winter months! Keeps me nice and toasty as an outer layer for casual days, and super toasty as a mid layer worn under a shell on those sub zero days we've been experiencing lately! Even if this jacket did not have the "infinite guarantee", I would but it over and over! My only very minor gripe is that the Pertex Shield material does make a krinkleing sound as do many other technical materials used to encase down fill, would love to see this coat get a softer shell material which minimizes noise when in use.

Warm enough for Eastern Europe

Let's start with the basics - I'm 6'3" 190 pounds with a lean build and the L fits me perfectly, which is rare to find a coat with sleeves long enough. This jacket is almost too warm for most conditions I've been in, I've found myself unzipping to cool down. I spent the day at 7500' with fresh powder and this jacket was absolutely perfect. It blocked all of the wind and kept me toasty all day. This jacket isn't super puffy, making it that much more comfortable for everyday wear. I haven't worn it in heavy rain, but it sheds moisture with no issue. I absolutely recommend this jacket for anybody who needs to stay warm and dry in harsh conditions.

Eastern Europe

great coat and I love everything about it so far except that it's less than a week old and the hanging loop in the coat is already ripping out and useless. I don't like having to hang a coat from the collar or hood, so I'll need to re-sew this, which should never happen.

Warm and Waterproof

This is the warmest Jacket I have, it is great for hikes in the snow, and really, really, cold days.

Disappointing Purchase - Overpriced

OR used to be known as a premium brand, NOT the case anymore. I am an avid skier, spend a lot of time in cold and wet weather and this jacket is NOT AS ADVERTISED. It completely lacks premium features that would normally be associated with a parka in the $400+ price range. I purchased this parka with the HOPE that it would replace my 10-yr old North Face down parka that was simply worn out. "Overall Disappointed" describes the purchase with regard to performance expectations. Here is the list: 1. Not Waterproof: There is no waterproof membrane anywhere in the parka. The "Taped Seems" are primarily a marketing play to make it sound better than it is. Although I have only had the parka a short amount of time I have concerns that the taped seems which separate the down-fill areas will fail with wear, rendering the parka useless and cause all the fill to drop to the bottom. 2. Not Warm: I have had many down parkas over the years with various ranges of "Fill Power" this parka advertises 800 Fill. It is 400 Fill at best. Within the 1st week of wear in temperatures of 30 degrees-F this parka struggles to maintain warmth. As a comparison I recently purchased my wife parka from North Face which was rated at 600 Fill. Her coat is nearly 2x Fill vs this parka. 3. Lacks Premium Features For Price: There are no inside zipper pockets of any kind, no inside pocket for a cell phone or wallet, other than the two open inside mesh pouch pockets. There is no thumb-hole cuff in the sleeve. 4. Fit: I have an athletic build, narrow waist and large chest and shoulders. I am 5' 10" and 200-lbs, and purchased the XL size. I would summarize this as a "Slim Fit". I am borderline on the fit in the shoulders, because the coat doesn't have any extra room across my upper-back, there isn't much room for the down to puff up to a loft and it feels cold due to the lack of space. Sleeves are a little long but using the Velcro can overcome that. Pros: Nice looking good for around town.

What is the total fill weight of this jacket?

96 grams of 800 fill down in our mens floodlight down jacket

Mine has lost its water repellency, what can I treat it with?

Nick, we recommend a nikwax down wash for the floodlight which will revive your outer DWR and also apply the DWR to the down on the inside of the jacket, make sure to dry with some tennis balls to unclump the wet down from the washin treatment
