RATING AND REVIEWS

Good lightwiegjht, general purpose shell

Originally i bought the XL. I oddly found it too small in the chest, and slightly small in the shoulders. It COULD have worked if I didn't need to layer ever. I'm usually a large. So I sized up. The XXL definitely has enough room to move around, and enough to layer a fairly thick layer underneath. The arms feel a tad long, however. But overall it's pretty lightweight, and long enough that I wont have water streaming into my crotch (I notice a lot of jackets go as low as the crotch area, which just makes water get all in there and create a very uncomfortable time walking). I'm curious if I had a more athletic form, if the XL would have fit better.

I received the Furio jacket for Christmas and held off on reviewing it until I got a good chance to put it through wringer. Typically when I travel I take two jackets, a heavier triple layer shell for resort days and a lighter jacket for backcountry days but needing to cut weight in my bag the Furio was my go to for my 4 week trip to Coloardo this year. The jacket was awesome for all conditions. It had enough room to layer for full on blizzard days at the resorts and was light enough for skinning in 50 degree sun. The feature for the side vents to be able to unzip from your hip all the way passed your armpits was nice for climbing up to the hike-to access at resorts. The only cons are that the side vent zipper is tough to get back down on your own. I was constantly asking a buddy for some assistance. Also, although not bothersome, the chest was a bit tight on me but to be fair I have a bit of a stocky build.

Bombproof

Highly durable. Highly windproof. Highly waterproof. The zippers are indeed a bit stiff, but still a great product.

Another AWESOME OR buy!

I've got an incredibly warm OR Colossus parka. Only prob is its not completely waterproof and windproof. Enter the Furio -- the toughest, most durable hard-shell I could find. Cuts the wind and wet. I got it a size up so that it would fit over any other layers I have, including a really thick parka. All the zippers are great. Only issue for me is that OR sleeves always seem a bit long -- maybe I've just got short arms.

Great jacket

Great bomberproof jacket. OR makes quality products and though I have had issues with zippers over the years they warrantied the product with out any questions. I would definitely recommend this product.

7 years of epic mountain protection

This jacket has served me well when all others have failed. I have used it from 50 to -5 degrees F in 24 inches of snow at MT. Baker and during winter downpour at Alyeska. I have backcountry skied the PNW, mountain west, and Alaska and this is always the coat I reach for. It is the warmest most breathable jacket I have ever had worn. It is just now having durability issues after 7 years, but has been nearly indestructible for whats it has been through.

Seems Good

Overall it seems good. Only a couple of uses currently. I have had issues with the zipper sticking/not connecting cleanly. We shall see if this continues.

Great Jacket

So I am fairly harsh on gear, and waited a couple months to write this review to see if the jacket would hold up. It has, and I am really happy with it. Very rugged, zippers and pockets where they should be, well designed. Sleeves seem a little long, but not so much that they get in my way. As mentioned by another review, the hood is ginormous. I wish they offered a standard hood model, and one for those that needed to utilize helmets. The main zipper on mine is slow to get started and draw up, but that might be a function of design. Also, this is NOT an insulated jacket, but simply a rugged shell to be used as an outer layer.

Runs small through the chest

Jacket keeps rain and wind out. I have a 44 inch chest and own 3 other XL OR jackets in this "fit", so I ordered an XL just like my other jackets. The jacket is roomy around my waist, but is snug like a t-shirt around my chest and because it's a hard shell, there's no stretch, so it limits arm movement. It's worse with any thing other than a base layer. Not exactly what you want when the weather demands a hard shell.

Poor quality, lifetime guarantee not honored

The zipper separated after 4 years. I got a return authorization from OR and returned the jacket, but they refused to send a replacement in the same color. They said that if I wanted the same color, I needed to buy a new jacket from their website at my own expense and they would issue a store credit later that could be used for future purchases. If I bought a jacket at my own expense, they would not issue a credit to my credit card, only give a store credit for future purchase. They've had my defective jacket for several days but said it takes 2-4 weeks to issue a store credit. They have one jacket left in stock in my size and color.
