RATING AND REVIEWS

I would recommend to a friend

I carry these in my duty bag to throw over my boots. So nice not to have soaking wet pants for the 12 hr shift!

Best gaiters I've used yet!

Easier to use than my military surplus ones.

My favorite gaiters for year-round use

5

Well-made and very durable, yet quite comfortable also. Even in deep snowy conditions they keep out the snow and keep my feet dry

Great for all of my gaiter needs.

I really like these gaiters. they fit well and keep the snow and cold out. the only reason why I am giving this 4 stars and not a 5-star review is that of the buckle at the top that keeps the gaiter sealed against the leg. this buckle slips and every once in a while you will need to stop and readjust. this isn't a big problem but I notice it one these ones more than others. I recomend these gaiters to anyone that needs a pair.

Wonderful All Around Gaiter

5

I've used these on many snowshoeing trips as well as climbs where you start out low and hit snow at higher elevations. The weight and "waterproofing" is great. Once they get broken in you can hardly tell your wearing them anymore.

Excellent lightweight winter gaiter

5

I've had a pair for many years, used mainly for winter hiking / snowshoeing, but also for ice climbing and light mountaineering and even portions of the PCT. These are the gaiters I recommend most often to friends who are beginner winter hikers, and to customers at a well-known outdoor retailer that I work at. They are reliably waterproof, durable, lightweight (for winter gaiters), and reasonably priced. Breathability could be better, but it's decent. The only thing these gaiters can't handle is crampon use- if you frequently wear crampons, you will cut holes in these sooner or later, and you're better off with the more heavy duty crocodile gaiters (or expedition crocs if you wear mountaineering boots, those have a larger fit and more crampon protection on the inner leg). Despite some crampon damage, I've used these through multiple repairs, and OR has been true to their warranty in replacing them free of charge, even though the damage was my fault and they were not obligated to do so as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line, if you are not a frequent crampon user these are perfect, they will save you weight and cost over the crocs.

Would buy for no snowy use

I bought these gators for a nice lighter set I could use in the summer but also for the BC winters. I climbed Crowsnest Mountain today and found I constantly had to pull them up as they would slide down my leg. Also the tightening strap on the top of my calf kept coming in done. The weather on the hike had about a foot of high density snow and by the end the gators were collecting snow. I used the gators earlier in the week and they worked great as a wet weather with no snow hike/climb. They kept my feet dry and warm and I didn't have any issues. If the strap tightening on the top was a little more secure they would work much better in the snow. Other then that, the materials are great and the gators are durable and light.

Good stuff

Does the job.

These gaiters work well for me.

I use these gaiters while turkey hunting. They did protect my clothing from the briers and kept my pants and boots from soaking up so much moisture from the dewy grass and weeds.

These are very good gaiters at a reasonable price

This is the 2nd pair of these gaiters i've owned. Not that this is bad, just that I use them a lot and they have just worn out. They are lightweight, adjust to varying size boots and do the job they are supposed to for the most part. My only issue with them and I haven't used a gaiter that doesn't have this problem, is snow comes in through the bottom sides at times unless they fit very tightly around your boot.

Discussions

I am 6'2" with a size 12 shoe. I weight 180lbs what size will I need?

Jordan

Hi Jordan, We recommend a size XL for size 12 boots. Thanks for contacting OR,

Paul

Lace hook will not engage the laces. (Hook sits too far down the boot (North Face Chilkats) How essential is this feature? Thanks

Briton

Hi Briton, The lace hooks secure and prevent the gaiter from riding up. As long as the gaiters fit over your boots and laces while your moving you should be alright. Thanks for contacting OR,

Paul

Is the weight listed (7.4 oz). for the pair? Or is it for a single gaiter. meaning the pair would be 14.8oz?

Sangres

The weight is per pair.
