RATING AND REVIEWS

Happy hands

I mostly used my mittens when I'm walking my dog. I have Reynaud's disease so my fingers are cold all the time. I've struggled to find a pair of gloves or mittens that my fingers don't freeze within 15 minutes. These gloves actually keep me warm, even when I have to hold a leash. The bulk of the gloves is only a con for me because of what I use them for. However, for other outdoor adventures, I think they are great.

Great

I love the gloves. I think the leather palms are going to hold up well. My only complaints are that there is not an easy pull release once the cuff is cinched and that there is no strap to keep the outer glove attach to your wrist when you need To take them off to use your fingers.

So WARM

5

I bought these gloves for winter ski mountaineering in interior Alaska. We spend some time just standing around in -20F temps and colder, and these mitts are perfect for keeping my hands warm. Add a fingered wool liner glove and you are good to go. There were times where my hands were warmer than any other part of my body! As it gets warmer it is great to remove the liner mittens and just use my fingered liners and the glove itself. It hasn't been warm enough for things to get wet, but I expect these will stand up to melting snow and ice as the season progresses.

Really like these mitts for alpine and xc skiing.

I like having an inner glove separate from the outer glove. These mitts are very warm and they do grip ski poles easily; I do not find them too bulky as someone else has commented.

Thick and Warm

These gloves are super warm. They have a liner so they are thicker than I am used to. They work well for snowmobiling, but they are a little bulk with the liner. I will try them without the liner next time.

Disappointed - Field -Tested in Banff, Canada

3

First, let me say that generally OR makes terrific products. I am disappointed with these mittens, which I field-tested on the slopes of Banff, Alberta, Canada. I was thrilled that the mittens came with a mitten liner. Unfortunately, the liner is not warm. OR needs to put a warm polartec liner inside the mitten. My main problem with the mitten was they are did not keep my hands warm, even with hand warmers inside the mitten. OR needs to get away from these gloves and mittens that you can text with. The focus needs to be on warmth. Also, there was not enough fiber-fill with ruching and seaming , so the mittens themselves did not keep my hands warm. I would also prefer a shorter "sleeve" on the mitten. Yes, I did like the straps on the mittens -- a nice feature. To sum up, I think the mittens are maybe too breatheable. I would prefer my old-fashioned mittens that retained my hand/body heat. I would then dry out the mittens in the evening by a fireplace. Sorry, but these were not a good fit for me. I need to now shop for $30 or $40 fleece liners to salvage my purchase.

Warm but awkward

3

I love the warmth but I found it frustrating to get in and out of these mittens if I needed to use my bare fingers. They were great for dexterity and I love the gauntlet style but I think in general I like a one unit mitten rather than a shell/liner style. I have bigger hands but the medium womens fit me well.
