I haven't taken these pants or the Skyward II jacket out for their main "intended use" yet (skiing), but I totally loved wearing both for snowmobiling the last couple days!! I am 5'4" and ordered a medium based on the size chart. The fit is good overall. I'd be curious to see what a size S fits like in the waist, but my big bum and legs fit well in these Ms with waffle pants on underneath. The inseam is a bit long on me but it does not compromise function at all. (My work partner is about 5" taller than me and would rock these well). I really like the velcro side-straps for tightening the pants and am curious if/how the elastic band will stretch over time... hopefully not much! These performed well in bluebird and whiteout conditions and felt great while riding high-output and standing around on breaks. The only time I had a bit of soak-in was when I was kneeling for a while to dig out a buried sled, but my knees dried quickly. THANKS OR!! < 3

Exactly what I wanted

I was looking for a light shell pant for backcountry skiing and these are perfect. I have only had them for a couple weeks and have only used them for resort skiing so far, but I couldn't be happier. They are very comfortable. I feel as though they move with my body without straining and are very water repellent. I was in pretty wet conditions in a heavy snowstorm and although my upper body ended up pretty damp, my lower half was completely dry. That being said, they are still shell pants, so if you normally ski in pretty cold conditions, either prepare to layer up (I wear two pairs of leggings, one fleece lined and one not) or go for something more insulated.

Fantastic Hardshell Pants

Love these pants for days on the mountain when I don't need insulation but want waterproof protection. For reference, I am 5'2" 117 and the small fit me great - fitted but with stretch and ability to move.

Read the reviews before hand, definitely fits small

Great product, really impressed by the innovation put into the small details of this product. The zippers are great, and I love all the pockets. The snow cuffs on the pants fit over ski boots. I am 5'4" and weigh 145lbs with muscular thighs and a more curvy butt so finding pants can be a bit tricky as I have small waist and hips (usually wear 6 women's) but in order to fit my legs I usually have to go a size up. I have had good luck with most of the OR pants I have bought, but after reading the other reviews, I am happy I ordered a Large in these pants instead of a Medium. They are a bit bigger around the waist, but if I had got the mediums I know they wouldn't give me space around the legs.

Great features, but poor fit and sizing

I really wish OR hadn't revamped their women's sizing and am hoping they revamp it again so that I can get a pair of backcountry ski pants that fit. I previously had a pair of Women's Skyward pants in size Medium, and they were falling off of me, even with the adjustable waist as small as it would go. (I'm 5'7", 130#, with a pretty tiny waist and a big swing out back, 28" waist as 37" hips - exactly the Small measurements in the size chart.) So I ordered a pair in Small - and although they fit once I manage to actually put them on, they are a real pain to get over my thighs and rear. It's like the zipper doesn't unzip enough to fit over any contour in the hip area. That said, the pockets are great, as is the fabric and the adjustability of the waist. Given that the Mediums were so big on me, I'll live with the Smalls, but I already can tell that I'll be cursing them every time I have to drop trou in the backcountry and will keep an eye out for my next pair of backcountry ski pants that actually fits women. One last improvement, other than a better women-specific fit for thin people with hips, would be gaiters that are just a tad bigger to fit better on ski boots. I nearly rip mine each time I put them on because they're just too tight.

Been looking for a new pair of backcountry ski/ice climbing pants for a while. Haven't tried these yet, but can't wait. Im a 175lb, 5'8 male who couldn't find the perfect fit with the men's medium or large, the womens large feels best. Perfect in between size.

I am 5'4" and 122 lbs with a hip measurement of 38" and waist of 26" and initially ordered a small which I ended up returning. I am usually a small in OR clothing, I have two other pairs of their pants both of which fit well through the legs and hips, and loose in the waist. That was not the case with these, they had a snug fit without any additional layers underneath and the waist actually fit. Unfortunately that wasn't the fit I was looking for so I sized up to a medium so I could actually layer comfortably. Because of the sizing snafu I haven't had the chance to try them in the wild yet, but I expect they'll be excellent. They're a sweet pair of pants though. I got the blue, which is a beautiful color, the fabric has a nice feel and a slight stretch to it.

Versatile Backcountry Ski Pant

5

This is a great backcountry ski pant, that can do a lot. It fits a little big in the hips for me, (however, that may be just right for others, as I don't have a very curvy waist/hip combo). I own a size Medium. I have worn this pant in storms and on clear cold days, it really performs and breathes well, and moves well with my body.

I have two pairs of women's Aspire pants in small, and thought these would be sized similarly. The Skyward II pants run quite a bit smaller, however, and I was afraid that the extra 0.5" length for the medium would make them too long (I'm 5'2"). Looked like nice pants; too bad they didn't fit
