Versatile and comfortable

I'm not a big reviewer, but wanted to say somthing about this piece. I used it extensively ski touring in the PNW this last winter and spring and really loved it. I found it to be surprisingly warm, and would wear it by itself on sunny winter days, as long as it was not too windy. I did also wear it for sun protection on volcanos into the late spring, though a bit warm it still worked very well. Overall it is super comfortable and unobtrusive.

My new favourite shirt...

This is my new favourite shirt... I think I'm wearing it too much. At first I was skeptical, as I was looking for a more conventional fleece for multi-purpose wear. But I'm glad I took a chance on this. I bike with it, I hike with it, I camp with it, and I even wear it casually, or while walking the dog. It has saved me/kept me dry and warm in a freak downpour; it's kept me cool on a long bike ride. It's incredibly versatile, just as comfy and more useful than a fleece, and it looks brand new even after a couple months or near daily use in some aggressive situations.

I would highly recommend this hoodie for any outdoor activit

Favourite Hoody

Used it for hiking and biking. Wicks sweat and helps regulate body temp. Great all around hoody, for all weather.

What cant it do?

This piece of clothing is a year round piece. I wear it in winter for any activity. Mid layer, second layer, outer layer. It is very wind resistant. It somehow is warm. I dont even know how to explain that. I notice a difference in body heat retention when I wear this. Whether its a cold day and this is my mid layer or the second layer of 4, it somehow keeps me warmer than without it. On a Spring or Fall day, it keeps my body heat in better than other items that are two to three times the thickness, but is super lightweight. . At the same time though it isnt too hot on hot sunny day on the water. i wear it when I sea kayak in Baja Sur. Its just an incredible piece of clothing that you will find a reason to wear all year round. Dont let the thinness of the material fool you. Its tough. Ive had mine for almost three years now. Still looks great.

Great Light Weight Softshell

This is my second one, the first one is bright orange and going strong. I wanted a much more muted color so I bought the seaweed color. It's perfect for when I want to be incognito and blend into the environment.

Great garment, but size up

I'm typically a large, but if I would have purchased this in a store instead of online, I would have got an xl. It still fits, but it's tight around my chest and even tight depending on what shirt I'm wearing underneath. I still enjoy wearing it on cool days, but removal can be difficult.

Saved my bacon

On a backcountry hunt I lost my rain jacket, wore this piece all day in rain, sleet, snow, and wind on the day I got my sheep. With a sheep down and soaked to the core in 40 degree weather I was able to stay warm enough to get quarters in the pack and get back to camp without having to put on my dry clothes. That allowed me to warm back up in my dry warm clothes once in my tent, instead of having to change mid packout and soak my other insulation layers. I may not have died, but it could have been close. This piece is amazing, it dries incredibly fast and is warm when wet and cool when moving. I'm buying more.

Very streamlined and narrow.

I usually buy the men's small products with outdoor research as the sleeves are long for me. This item however was very tight and extremely slim fitted. Had to return it.

Lake Havasu

very nice quality

I just finished paddling the Yukon river quest(a 444 mile canoe and kayak race down the yukon), and this jacket was phenomenal. I loved the look and feel of this jacket, it was light, breathable, had a nice fit, and was durable. thanks outdoor research for researching the outdoors.
