RATING AND REVIEWS

Awesome, except...

Impressed out of the box with the shell. They have a lot of features that are borrowed from the Alti mitts, the insulation in the mitt is nice and makes them pretty versatile. Big loops to pull on and off and hang up are nice. The liners are unsatisfactory. They fit poorly, especially around the thumbs, where they have gaps that won't close. The have nothing to keep them from sliding down your palm when opened. With a one piece mitt liner the Meteor mitts would be hands down 5 stars and an incredible value. I go 3 stars because I already have other liners to put in them. If I didn't I would not recommend them. The liners are trying to do too much and not doing any of it well. If you get these mitts plan on getting another liner or go with the High Camp mitts which appear to have a proper liner. Hopefully OR rethinks the liner on this otherwise nice piece of equipment.

Love them!

Kept my hands warm and dry during a week of skiing. Temps in the low teens with high winds and snow.

Bought for Breck trip this winter. If they are anything like the other gear OR produces, I know they'll impress.

Warm mitts for snowboarding

Love these mitts. Just enough room in them to ball up when it gets a bit too cold on the chairlift. Convertible liners are a plus. Just wish the thumbs had a bit more room.

Love the wrist straps (to hang when not wearing) love the warmth, look, grip, but they got soaked through on a heavy snow day.

Best versatile Mitts

I have had these for a while and recently got a pair for my wife. She is a life long cold weather skiing and is very impressed with the warmth of these mittens. They work great for gripping ski poles and the removable liner allows for a convenient way to adjust heat level on the go

Great mitt, not so great liner.

I really enjoyed these gloves.... after I took the liner out. They are warm and repel rain, snow, and wind. I use them for belay gloves while ice climbing. I really like the loop on the end of the mitts to hang from my harness upside down so they don't gather snow or moisture. The liner is completely uncomfortable, for some reason they made them a convertible glove. The magnets are bothersome and the thumb and finger cover are tight, not good for keeping hands warms. I had to replace them with a much softer more comfortable

Discussions

Just got a pair of Meteor mitts Where is thr heat pack pocket ?

Séamas

Hi Séamas, The heat pack pocket is on the back of the hand-mitt liner, the opening is on the index finger side. Thanks for contacting OR,

Paul

I am contemplating using the Meteor Mitts with thin, liner weight Motion Heat battery-heated gloves in addition to and/or instead of the liners for photography while on an Antarctic cruise (as well as for skeet and hunting in Upstate NY). My hands are 83 years old and covet all the warmth they can garner. Q1- Is there any reason why my plan won't work? Q2- Should I go up a size? Q3- What kind of heater would one use under the flap? Thank you all in advance for your considered guidance.

Hal

Hi Hal, Your proposed system would work, however, if you wanted to use the included Meteor Mitt liners you will have to size up. I don't believe they make a heated gauntlet (wrist/cuff area), you would probably have to use instant heat packs. If you would like to use the MotionHeat liners, we would actually recommend the Alti Mitts. They are our warmest gloves and feature 170g of Primaloft Gold Insulation in the shell, and the liners have 340g of synthetic insulation. As stated above, you will have to size up if you wanted to use the included liners with the MotionHeat liners. Thanks for contacting OR,

Paul
