I use it for wilderness SAR - it's my sturdy emergency shell I carry all the time. I use it if: - I need something I don't expect I'll wear all the time, so it has to be lightweight and packable to be stored away in the pack - I need something that hits the sweet spot for durability vs weight ; it's super lightweight yet I've bushwacked on SAR calls with it! - It's cool enough outside that dealing with some condensation sweat is preferable over dealing with wet weather I don't use it if: - I need something that breathes exceptionally well Pit zips make it breathable enough, but no anything like a softshell still. But that's what usually happens with lightweight shells. Only slight frustration: the color (red) looks super bright on the picture, but in fact it's almost red wineish rather than fire engine red. I use it mainly for SAR, so a bright red was what I was looking for. With that said, this more toned down red is more appropriate for travel casual use.
