Newly Updated Ferrosi Jacket Not An Improvement

2

I have owned the previous two versions of the Ferrosi Jacket with delight, and regretfully have to say the newly updated version is taking a step backwards. The sleeves on the new jacket are now significantly longer compared to previous versions (I measure 2.0" longer compared to my old jacket), which leaves me with an unsightly wad of bunched up fabric around my wrists waiting to catch on something. To add to the mass of fabric around my wrists, I find that the elastic band in the wrist is now much thicker/bulkier and rotated to be positioned on top of the wrist which is annoyingly uncomfortable compared to the old design. The other aspect of the new design I am dissatisfied with is the zipper. The new plastic zipper is much thicker and less low profile and does not have the same positive feel. It appears to be a cost cutting measure as opposed to a functionally/durably superior feature. As a long time Ferrosi user, I'm bummed to say that I had to return the jacket and will have to look elsewhere for a new midlayer, but if OR reverses these changes on the next version I would buy.

v3 Updated version is the best one yet

5

I just received the updated version of the Ferrosi jacket and have to admit each one has been an improvement from the previous version. I have been wearing one since they were initially released and still feel this is my favorite non-winter jacket. Nice work on the zipper, the previous ones were great but this one definitely feels like an improvement. I also like the updated chest pocket, similar to the first version but updated and looks/functions better. Keep all the great aspects and yet find way to improve it, job well done.

Weird fit

I love the ferrosi material (I have several pairs of pants and the shirt jacket) but the top of the pockets on this jacket created a weird line and it looked wrong on me. The hooded ferrosi has a slightly different cut and fits much better in my opinion.

Daily wear

5

A friend recommended this jacket to me and I picked one up a couple of months ago. It quickly became a daily wear for me during this cool California winter. It looks so good wearing around town that I forget it's made to work. Once I got it out on some cool, rainy runs it performed like a champ. The material is the perfect amount of stretch, just thick enough to take the chill off but very breathable once I got sweating. It's not waterproof but it repels water for quite a bit. I'm generally not a fan of thumb holes, mainly I don't like how they look but these are very hidden when you're not using them and the sleeves use the stretchy-ness of the material to make it comfortable while you are using the thumb holes. Some jackets make the sleeves too long in order for the sleeves to fit when you use the thumb holes, this jacket does not do that, sleeves fit perfect. I'm 5'11" and 155 lbs, the medium fits great. I've worn it with a thin base layer and an Arc'teryx Delta LT mid-layer underneath and it still fits fine, I wouldnt put much more underneath. I can't speak to durability just yet, but the friend who reccomended it has worn it for quite some time and it has held up great. Buy this with confidence, you don't have to search very far on the internet to read how everyone loves this jacket.
