Sell a reguar cut Optimizer

I have to agree with Drizzle's review regarding the waist snugness. It makes it difficult to layer a fleece and stll be able to leave the jacket closed at the bottom. I love the fact that OR put double-ended zippers on all their jackets except for the lightest jackets. This means that the bottom zip pull could be released to provide some relief on the tight bottom, but this is not ideal especially if used for a ski shell in powder. I love this particular jacket's weight and features without having to go to a heavier jacket, however, OR should consider making this jacket in a regular, non-trim fit. Moving up to the next size means that the sleeves are too long.

Great fit, great material

I really like this jacket. Sleeves fit well - I'm 6'4" and a 36/37 sleeve and I can still ride my bike with this. It's not too bulky and the hem is well tailored. The hood is LARGE - bigger than many helmet compatible hoods. The fabric is a bit less stretchy than my previous Gore-Tex active, but otherwise feels good. Highly recommended.

Decent jacket but, once again, sizing issues in the cut

I feel like a broken record with my OR jacket reviews lately. What is going on with the sizing in the cut of all the jackets??? It's not just men's jackets either, as I've heard many friends and coworkers echo their opinion that the cut is just weird. For this jacket, the sleeves are unnecessarily long and the waist is way too tight. I'm 6'1", 195lbs with an athletic build and I originally ordered an XL with the idea that I might want to wear a down jacket underneath. My idea failed to consider the ape like proportions of the cut of this jacket and the sleeves were a hand-length and a half too long. So I ordered the L, only to find that I was barely able to zip it up because the circumfrance at the waist was snug (I'm a 32" waist). Finally, the zipper pucker was exceptionally obtrusive and my wife commented that when I was barely leaning forward it looked like an arm was protruding from my stomach. I really don't like being so harsh in an OR review but the sizing needs to be fixed. I have gotten a lot of my friends to buy into the quality of Outdoor Research and I am now getting quite a bit of feedback (especially from female friends) that the waists of the jackets are too slim (and they are by no means overweight).

Hood too big!

This shell is phenomenal for rainy weather or wearing on top of other layers. My only complaints are that the helmet compatible hood is ridiculously large and uncomfortable even when cinched up and the zippers are kind of hard to get started. I wish OR made this jacket with the option for a normal hood

Super light , wind and water proof

I wore this skiing in the Alps, the weather was warm but windy and as the sun went in it got cold, but just an undershirt and this shell kept the wind out and I stayed warm even in the shade! Super light weight and easy to pack too.

Great shell

Skiing warm days, Alpine touring, rain jacket

Awesome hardshell!

This is used when the weather makes a turn for the worse. I sized up to fit over my other layers. Does the job it's made to do.

Ultra light weight goretex jacket

Currently using this jacket for my commute 5 days a week. Very impressed with the breathability and love how the large hood fits perfectly over my helmet.
