RATING AND REVIEWS

One season gaiters, possible design issue.

I like the gaiters which is why I purchased them. The fit and flexible design is the best I have found for hiking and backpacking use over my boots. Not too high, not too low. LIght and offers good coverage to the front of the boot. Only the instep strap which is the fluorescent color strap that goes under the boot eventually tears then degrades and then breaks. My new pair wore out after one season of normal usage. I have yet to find a suitable strap or fit it to act as a replacement strap. So the choice is to keep purchasing a new pair or look for another tool

Excellent, with one exception

Took these news gaiters out for a week in the Shenandoahs, and they shed water, mud and all sorts of trail debris. HOWEVER, the shoelace clip is metal and was pushed closed so it wouldn't grab a shoelace to keep the toe portion down. When I tried to gently pry it open, the clip broke off. I will be returning these for something that works properly.

I wore these everyday for a week in the Sierra. They preformed well. No problems at all. The gaiters kept my socks and shoes clean.

Perfect gaiterd

5

Perfect! I have a pair of expedition crocodiles and they are great but too heavy. I wanted a pair of gaiters to use for snowshoeing and winter SAR work and these are just the ticket. I prefer non waterproof everything when it's really cold and I'm active. I run hot so I want my stuff to really breath. (It's got to be really messed up for me to put on my hardshell, my Ferrosi Hoody is my shell 90% of the time). Anyway, I wanted a water resistant gaiter to keep the bottoms of my pant from snagging on my snowshoes and crampons and these are perfect. If I'm in the snow and not wearing my Cirque pants I have these on.

Great Product

I used this product on a December trip to Colorado hiking in two feet of powder with KEEN boots. They worked great keeping the snow out and my feet dry. I am looking forward to hiking with them in the spring in wet conditions to test them.

Best On The Market

For a sping/summer/fall lightweight, mid calf gaiter, these are the best I've found. I haven't had issues with sweat in 85º+ weather, and don't have to worry about wet boots for small stream crossings. I hate having small rocks or dirt in my boots, so I put these on almost every time I'm out.

Fantastic Gaiter!

Used for early season elk hunting in conditions from very dry/dusty trails, to wet marshes, to snow covered trails. This was my first time using gaiters for hunting and loved them! They kept my feet dry and clean in a multitude of conditions. The only problem was that my feet did get wet while walking through a tall grass marsh that was very wet. My pants wicked the water down to the socks and soaked in the water from there. I will add that I don't think they are designed for those type of conditions (they make a taller gaiter as well). They were very comfortable, easy to put on and were surprisingly quiet.

Performed well, multi-use item

I'm short and often find full gaitors too tall for me. So I got these for hiking and/or trudging thru alpine terrain. Took them on Reynolds Peak, WA climb and they worked surprisingly well, keeping snow out even when plunge-stepping and post-holing (I really cinched down on the top elastic band). The foot strap showed very little wear and tear despite full day of talus hopping.

Worked as advertised

Wore these on a 200 mile hike across England with some extremely wet weather and some very boggy conditions. I also wore them on a few hot days and did not find them uncomfortable at all. I was glad to have them to keep rocks and burrs out as well.

Will the S/M size work with a women's 8.5 shoe? The specs say 4-8 for the S/M. I do not see just a Medium that would work with a size 8.5.

Caleb

Hi Caleb, The size S/M will fit a Women's 8.5 shoe. Thanks for contacting OR,

What is the best light weight gator for backpacking (mens) to keep bugs from biting right around the sock line on calf? Looking for something for my husband - he gets eaten up around the top of his socks. 6'1. size 13 shoe.
