I have only used this a few times backpacking in the UK, I got the bivy to use with my tarp instead of a tent. I find most tents are quite heavy with small internal space, the backpacking tents are lighter but smaller again. I am 6'1" and a large frame and do not like being cramped in a small tent. This bivy with a tarp is lighter and a lot more spacious. The bivy kept me warm and dry in heavy windy rain, it blew rain under the tarp, strangely inside the bivy it was very dry due to the wind blowing across the bivy. On another occasion with the bivy sheltered from the wind, the inside of the bag was damp from condensation. The bag likes the wind and is drier in windy conditions, if out of the wind the bag does not breathe so well and is damp inside. I am very happy with the bivy.
