A Brute!

I seldomly comment but I was really amazed by this jacket. I recently did a hiking/backpacking excursion through the Grand Canyon. I experienced a lot of microclimates; from snow to rain to dry and warm. This jacket was extremely versatile and was on me the entire trip. I was concerned that my heavy pack would have worn or abraded the jacket on high friction areas. I'm pretty rough on my gear anyway. The jacket handled it with no trace of wear. The venting was great when I needed it to be. The stretch panels added comfort. I'm looking to more trips with this jacket. I'm 6', 200lbs and the XL fit just right. Superb!

Great Jacket for keeping dry.

I used this to replace my Arc'teryx LEAF jacket. It is more comfortable and less restrictive. I need to be able to lay on the ground for 8 - 10 hours with minimal movement and not shed body heat in 20-30 degree temps with 20 MPH winds and rain. It works well with thinner under layers like coreloft. I would prefer it had elbow panels in something more substantial to prevent abrading the shell on rocks and dirt. Some velcro panels would be nice as well.

Pricey, but great jacket and excellent costumer service

Bought this in XL for my 210 lb, 6'2 partner and returned it for a large. We live in SE Alaska and need to layer, with a large he can wear his OR puff for insulation and keep dry with this outer shell. Wears it on the job site and mountain goat hunting, far more durable than his last rain gear.

Awesome product

I recently purchased the Infiltrator jacket (along with the pants). A couple days after arrival, I had the opportunity to put it to the test. 5 hours in the rain, 42 degree weather and in full kit. I was quickly sold on the quality. I am 5'10" 190Ibs and the large fit perfectly. It was form fitting enough to comfortably be under kit but not too tight for layers underneath. The stretchy material in all the right places makes this system feel one with your body. The hood works great with or without helmet because of the straw string system. I had buyers remorse for a short time until I realized what a game changer this jacket is.

Extremely Versatile Shell

5

I've been searching for a shell to wear at work in adverse weather conditions that would work with body armor and a duty belt. This thing knocks it out of the park for the most part. I end up tucking it in to my pants, but have no real issues with it. It doesn't crinkle like most all shell jackets do, it's extremely stretchy in otherwise unstetchy areas on most jackets, and it's perfect under body armor and a backpack. I've exposed it to very rough brush so far and it shows no signs of wear. It's faced howling winds with blowing snow and rain with no leaks or any other issues. I love it. Drawbacks are that there are no arm or chest zipper pockets and the front zipper sticks a little towards the top. I would've expected there to be home and loop squares in either sleeve for agency/unit identification patches, but they are absent. The hood is also a little awkward to wear if you don't have a helmet on.

Wasn't for me.

I was really excited when I first saw the presentation of this kit - it had every kind of cool features that I've never seen on other brand. When I received it, I felt it was tight around my hip, but rest of the body they fit just fine - stretches and I could wear my puffy jacket / vest and no problem...with exception of the hip area. If I'm wearing my rig or harness there's no way to close that side zip. So I ordered the next size up...well, they are way too big all over, from the chest to the hip...and arms were way too long there was no way to work around it. Unfortunately this isn't for me, sizing just does not work. Also, I'd also like to see OR to add bicep pocket on its military product line.

Great jacket for active wear but....not Goretex PRO quality

4

Don't understand why OR dumped all the good PRO shells , for durability; and quality- they are the absolute best all around Goretex- AT LEAST OFFER A CHOICE instead of all the Uber stretch latest technology nonsense- this shell is not stout at all- way too much money for something like this. I'm sure it's great under body armour and loads of gear but let's put down the latte frapachino and get back to some old school Goretex Pro; have an honest look at what uour competitors are offering and dump the self-righteous ways of thinking you know what's best for folks- and PLEASE FIX YOUR ZIPPERS!!!!!!!

Is the hood adjustable to wear without a helmet?

Phillip

Phillip, the Infiltrator hood is adjustable and can be used with out a helmet, there are 3 adjustment points on the hood to accommodate a good fit.

Q&A_Admi

What's the temperature rating on this jacket?

Abe

Hi Abe, the Infiltrator Jacket is a hard shell jacket and does not provide any insulation. The stretch panels on the jacket allow it to be layered over (slightly) bigger pieces of clothing (e.g. insulation). Unfortunately, there is no temperature rating for this jacket, it would provide a similar amount of warmth as a basic hard shell jacket. Thanks for contacting OR!

This is a shell. Waterproof/windproof. In mild temps it would do fine, but that's it.
