Building on the ultralight utility of our Isolation Pack LT, the Isolation Pack HD adds exterior water bottle pockets, a hipbelt, and a zippered lid, making it a more featured day hiking pack and boosting its capacity to 19 liters—ideal for a couple of layers, food, and water on a 14er hike, or a laptop and lunch for a bike commute across town. Perfect bag to always have stashed!

This is a great bag to always have stashed in your larger backpack or suitcase.

Nearly perfect day pack

I've found the Isolation HD to be nearly spot-on. I call it minimalist+, which is my sweet spot. Lightweight, but a couple of extras so it's not just a single sack hanging on my back. I can pack a lot into 19 liters when I need to, but when I'm just carrying phone, keys, snack and water I barely know it's there. But water is the weak link. There is no suspension for a water bladder, or a path for routing the tube. The pack needs about 3" of .25" webbing and a side release clip to hang the bladder, and a small "lidded" hole to route the tube. Added weight: 5grams. Added functionality - a ton.

Great small pack!

This is a great little bag! I don't know how to say it any other way. It has all the space you need for the essentials and helps you cut down on the fluff. Very simple with good zippers and stiching. I'm probably going to have to buy another one because my girlfriend keeps "borrowing" mine!

In a world of backpacks, this is a standout

I have a backpack problem. I have a TON of backpacks that I have gotten as gifts and for work. But they are all bigger/heavier. I still felt guilty when ordering this one, like I didn't 'need' it. But I am SO glad I got it. It is super super super lightweight (which is the point) but very serviceable. I can put a 44 oz water bottle in the side pockets, it has great internal storage pockets, and the size is just perfect for around town or a 10-20 mile out and back hike.

Great Pack

I use this pack for day hikes and carrying clothes and work items when running home. Works great.

How waterproof is this pack? I live in Seattle - to be outside is to be in the rain.

Hi Elizabeth, This pack is water-resistant. Look to our Dry Summit Pack LT/HD, Dry Payload Pack, or Rangefinder Dry Backpack for a waterproof pack that can survive rain. The zippered compartment of the packs are water-resistant due to the zipper, however, the main compartment is waterproof and should keep the contents inside the bag dry. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Is this product considered water resistant due to it not having the roll down top feature (like the Dry Summit Pack HD) or is the material itself not waterproofed? Will it withstand all day rain?

Hi Cynthia, the pack is water resistant because of the waterproof material is only coated on the bottom and back panel of the pack, and the pack is not not fully seam-taped. The rolltop closure that's feature on the Dry Summit Pack HD helps prevent water from getting into the top of the pack, wheras the Drawcord Cinch Closure does not prevent water from getting into the pack. Therefore this pack will not withstand all day rain. Thanks for contacting OR!
