RATING AND REVIEWS

Worked in the Arctic

4

Used in Arctic for fieldwork. This globes kept my hand warm in -27C windchill. While driving skidoo, sometime I felt cold in my finger. The only complain I have is about the liner inside. Sometime it fold while taking my hands out and lost its inside finger position, which is irritating everytine I tried to put my hands in.

After having used these for a season I have to say that I'm very impressed. They are well designed and perform very well. I have used them in a variety of conditions in Canada's north and they exceeded my expectations throughout. Some of the most extreme conditions I used them in was during a month long event in the high arctic. Be it long rides on a snowmobile or setting up camp or lashing loads they provided a good balance between warmth and functionality. The design is well thought out and well suited for sustained use on the land. The outer shell is tough enough to withstand working with a variety of tools and for rough rope work. The only real issue I encountered was having my throttle thumb begin to get cold after several hours on a snow machine at temperatures below -50c. In my experience not much can mitigate that though. For someone intending to use them in conditions like that I'd recommend that they go up a size in order to facilitate the use of a liner glove. In terms of siding I found the finger boxes spacious enough but the thumbs were a little tight. After a bit of use the insulation seemed to compress enough to mitigate the issue with the thumbs though. This didn't seem to affect their warmth mind you. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase and I'm thinking of picking up the gloves to add to my repitoir for next year.

How to measure

Measure around a flat hand at the knuckles,do not include your thumb. Also measure your hand length from the base of your palm to the end of your middle finger. Use the larger of the two measurements to select your glove size.
